A rally called to promote free speech and denounce big tech censorship turned ugly Saturday in San Francisco, when hundreds of alleged Antifa counterprotesters showed up and berated and attacked demonstrators, leaving one missing a tooth.
The conservative group Team Save America organized the event to protest Twitter, which it argues censors free speech. They planned to rally at United Nations Plaza before moving the protest to Twitter's headquarters a few blocks away. But the event quickly devolved into a shouting match and violence as hundreds of counterprotesters stormed the scene.
Video shows one counterprotester punching Philip Anderson, an organizer of the event, knocking one of his teeth out.
Anderson posted a picture of the aftermath on social media and said he was attacked by Antifa.
"This is what happens when you lose free speech," Anderson said over boos as the crowd threw objects at him. "This is what happens, America. This is what our country is turning into."
The event was canceled before it ever really got started.
Another protester who was wearing a Trump 2020 shirt was attacked at some point by a counterprotester.
The San Francisco Police Department did not respond to a request for comment Saturday.
Social media companies have come under fire for alleged censorship recently. Last week, for instance, Twitter put a warning on a tweet from the President that compared coronavirus to the flu, while Facebook removed the post altogether.
As of Saturday evening, Twitter had still locked out the New York Post's account for tweeting about their reporting on Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden.
Facebook, meanwhile, said it is reducing distribution of the Post's reporting on its platform.

The misuse of “protesters” and “peaceful protesters” is maddening.
When you are blocking streets, attacking reporters, looting businesses and burning them up, you are a rioter, not a protester, and supposed news organizations that cover for rioters by calling them protesters are complicit propagandists for the rioters.
Antifa is a terrorist group, where is Barr?
Anyone “demonstrating” for our Constitutional Republic without snipers in overwatch at this point, deserves their tooth loss. What did you THINK was going to happen dummy?

You and me both thought Occupy was just a means to practice.
Occupy was very violent. I had a shooting incident involving one of them on a freeway.
Sounds like Twitter hired some thugs to break the protest. Much like the way the old “Robber Barons” hired thugs to break strikes.
Barr is too busy hanging out with Wray.
Maybe he will get around to it later if nothing else is going on.

Antifa, BLM, and all those radical hate/anti-American groups, were created by the liberal schools systems.
Democrats have managed to take control of the education system, most of the media (including the internet social media sites), the big cities and most of the states with the larger populations.
Republicans didn’t see any of that coming. They were asleep at the wheel while democrats ran circles around them, to the point where many states and many large (and smaller) cities, are out of reach to republicans. Google and Twitter and Facebook reach about 100% of Americans, while republicans reach far less.
If anything is to be done to insure that the social media sites do not censure republicans and free speech, then, the same thing needs to happen in the education system, where indoctrination into liberal and socialist and communist ideologies start with kids in kindergarten and way into the college years.
Right now, democrats control the message, and to a large extent, the way people think. That can’t be allowed to continue.
