Disney+ subscribers who log on to watch classic films like "Lady and the Tramp" or "Peter Pan" now see stronger advisory messages warning of racist content.
"As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, we are in the process of reviewing our library and adding advisories to content that includes negative depictions or mistreatment of people or cultures," Disney said in a statement online.
"Rather than removing this content, we see an opportunity to spark conversation and open dialogue on history that affects us all," it added.
The 1955 animated comedy "Lady and the Tramp" carries an advisory because of its depiction of Siamese cats in a way that perpetuates anti-Asian stereotypes.
Disney says the advisory is not new, but it has now been updated and strengthened for this and other films.
Last year, CNN reported that Disney had issued a warning on some movies, such as "Dumbo," that they featured "outdated cultural depictions."
At that time, the description of these films in the streaming service's menu included a warning that "this program is presented as originally created. It may contain outdated cultural depictions."
Sigh...

Many, many more of the old TV classics will have to run disclaimers for the poor widdle snowflakes.
The older the program, the more warnings will be needed.
Imports from other countries will also need scrutiny.
We dont want to upset the poor widdle snowflakes. Ban chalk, too. And PoP Tarts that could be gnawed into the shape of a handgun. Oh the huge manatee!!!!
Of course, in order to find the original--and it's there on YouTube, unaltered--you need to search on Peggy Lee and Lady and the Tramp . .
. . which brings back a couple of YouTube clips from the original movie that won't be in the Disney+ release . .
. . and, in a Google search, a lecture on why the Siamese Cat Song is offensive.
It's 1984 plus 36 years. And we've always been at war with Eastasia.
I bought a Looney Tunes compilation ten years ago. It has a Whoopi Goldberg warning about content. That creepy broad should have had a Bugs Bunny warning about racist, self important, whatever kind of a beast she is.
Would love to see bugs take on that rat freak. Whoopi. Stupid name.
Like it can’t be found on the interwebs.
It’s impossible to “mock” the Scots, the Irish or hillbillies because frankly, we feel sorry for anyone not so blessed by birth.
/if something “offends” you, you had to have some shame hiding in there, somewhere
Maybe if Warner Bros takes a cue from Disney, I’ll be able to see the Goofy Gophers and Speedy Gonzales again!
Not so with Heckle and Jeckle, my brother's favorite cartoon on Saturday mornings.
Oh Lordy. Utter nonsense
But those were just cats!
How about the Italian cook (Luigi) and his assistant cook, who were portrayed as actual human beings - but with stereotypical Italian looks and accents!
Despicable! /s
Regards,
Dizzy isnt as committed to cultural sensitivity in other countries because Song Of the South has been available all over the world on VHS and later DVDs - Except in North America
So these hypocrites are making Plenty of money on Walts film without USA sales.
I have a Japanese laser disc of SOS, the audio is all English with only some japanese subs during the songs. Not the greatest image wise but better than nothing!
The scenes of the baptism at the river are probably more poisonous and offensive to Disney agenda than the so called racist bits.
Bought the DVD some years back, so I can watch it when I like. Also, Birth Of A Nation (praised by Woodrow Wilson as history written by lightning ).
The Brady Bunch??? What the hell?
