Logically, illegal ALIENS should not be counted in the census, since, they come and go, and come and go.

So, once counted, they remain counted in the census, even after they leave? That would represent a miscount.

The biggest problem is that, being illegal aliens, they are not citizens that should be counted for any federal (or even local) programs that would use LEGAL CITIZENS' tax dollars. The American citizens did not 'contribute' their tax dollars to take care of citizens of other countries. That should be the end of the discussion right there.

The Administration has to report the census numbers for Congressional apportionment, by 10 January 2020. With or without the illegals included, is the question.

The Supreme Court is fast tracking the case, to get a decision before that.

I'm not so sure. Trump is not trying to exclude legal immigrants. The point of the census is to apportion representatives, and someone who is in this country illegally has no legal expectation of remaining. A person here illegally today may be expelled tomorrow, making any count of them inherently flawed.

To look at it another way, lets say we were actually repelling an invasion, and there happened to be 200,000 enemy soldiers in Texas. Would those 200,000 enemy soldiers have to be counted for purposes of the census? I'd say not.

Counting only those present here legally actually makes pretty sound legal sense.

When SCOTUS denied the question, Trump responded, fine, we'll just use other government databases to confirm whether they are citizens or not.

SO probably unless you are very old, born before 1938, there has to be a matching SSN or you are assumed to be illegal.
