CBS News is doing their best to minimize this.
Politico (yes, I know...) has a much better report:
The inside story of how Ice Cube joined forces with Donald Trump
Of course, when I ask people who use that characterization “wow, is Trump really that far left?”, I get some tripe about how national socialists are somehow “far right”. Sometimes I reply to that with the tons of evidence to the contrary, but when I do that, I really get a sense of such people’s inability to listen and/or reason . . .
Ah, so they “joined forces”. The old “unholy alliance” trick.
I grew up on Ice Cube’s music. He is a racist and generally hates white people. Now, he’s made some great albums if you like gangster rap, and he’s lived a life that gives him a different perspective, so I like hearing what he has to say, but I’m not kidding myself that Ice Cube is anything but a raging racist against white people. He also has a seething hatred of Jews, which I’m sure he would relate back to his interactions with his original producer Jerry Heller.
Trump should be very careful here.
Funny how Ice and Dre turned out doing pretty well in this “racist” country.
Cube is not on board.. but he does seem to be willing to at least think outside of the box
Here’s the funny thing: Cube was never a gangsta. He grew up in a middle class household, had both of his parents. He was bussed daily to a better school across the city. Has a degree in architecture.
President Trump succeeds because he actually CARES and TRIES.
That goes very far with a lot of Americans.
Hes also been married to the same woman, mother to his four children, for nearly 30 years.
Its almost as if valuing education, hard work, and intact families can lead to success. Go figure.
I was thinking about this statement and while "hate" is a strong word, black people generally are given a pass to not like other races. Nobody is forcing them to "like" whites, Asians, Latinos, etc. Blacks can make blatantly racist comments about other races without censure. A black person will not lose their job if they say, "I don't really like white people much."
The funny thing is, most races and ethnicities generally prefer their own kind. Ice Cube is allowed to be honest about his feelings. The rest of us are supposed to pretend to be offended.
Perhaps there is a cohort of shy black Trump voters.
Or perhaps they just want to live to old age :)
I dated a Puerto Rican gal in a tough neighborhood in Brooklyn for three years. Until recently.
The men don’t seem to hate Trump At least not enough to argue or fight about it.
Many of the black women? They’ll stab you if you say you are voting for him. :)
I’m only half joking.
Hence the need for shyness. One can still vote in secret and then say Biden all the way or something.
Fair enough :)
