“The nature of the evidence is irrelevant; it’s the seriousness of the charge that matters.” (But only if you’re a republican.)

Right, Biden has not explicitly denied the authenticity of the email material only inferentially by questioning its provenance.

I suspect the absence of an explicit denial lies in the fact that there are another 30,000 emails which will establish authenticity beyond doubt.

“When something of this nature comes up, it pays to investigate the sources very closely:”

Unless it’s against a Republican, then they’ll run full front page articles based on anonymous sources.

“It may very well be, as turned out to be the case before, that foreign intelligence services are directly involved.”

Well, if they’re talking about Russia and the CCP, they want biden to win.

It’s always the case with negative information about Democrats - the scandal is how or why the information was revealed - not what the information revealed. Contrast this with the stories about the recent leak of Trump’s tax returns.

This is the formula for how the press treats Democrats and Republicans with complete different standards - every single time.

Almost no news outlets have reported the data or its origin as factual,

Almost no news outlet reported on any aspect of the Hunter Biden influence peddling scandal, even though it is factual.

“To claim the data hacked, implies it’s authentic.”

Actually to claim it was hacked, more than implies, it confirms that the emails are real.

Well, someone walked over 3 laptops for repair, and never picked them up.

Seems that paternity lawsuit jammed Hunter up, so much so, Hunter could not risk those laptops getting into court and discovery.

Did Hunter intend to hide the laptops, then not have an opportunity to recover the laptops?????

“The FBI seized a laptop computer and a hard drive that had emails addressed to Hunter Biden and photographs of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s son, according to a subpoena and other documents published on Wednesday by the New York Post.”

“The subpoena from the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, dated Dec. 9, 2019, is for an Apple MacBook Pro and an external hard drive.”

“The subpoena was issued to the owner of an electronics store in Delaware, where the computer was dropped off in April 2019, the store’s owner, who was not named, told the Post.”

“The billing information given for the computer was Hunter Biden’s name and the computer bore a sticker from the Beau Biden Foundation, which was named after Hunter Biden’s late brother. The store’s owner said the computer and hard drive were seized by the FBI after he alerted authorities to them.”

This leaves no doubt as to provenance especially as correlated with timeline information.

Washington’s rules:
Democrats are allowed to make up charges against Republicans. The severity of the charges are more important than the accuracy.
Republicans are not allowed to release any incriminating information on Democrats. Regardless of whether they are true, releasing the information is a clear breech of protocol.

But even supposing no global influence effort existed, the provenance of this so-called leak would be difficult to swallow. So much so that major news organizations have held off coverage, and Facebook and Twitter have both limited the distribution of the NY Post article.

What is difficult to swallow is the idea that Hunter Biden's getting paid a huge salary from Burisma had nothing to do with Joe Biden being in charge of the Obama's administrations policies toward Ukraine.

Can it be “Leaked” if it was abandoned?

For Four years, no one had cared about sources. They ran with everything.

Even Comey and the Pressure to appoint Mueller - what was important was a thorough airing of the charges, and an unlimited Investigation where any bar rumor had to be examined in depth by Trump’s enemies.

What are we back to Obama rules where claims made about him require three on the record Saints?

I see Fox News wants to say it’s very unlikely, WTH do they know about Hunter?

Blinders

they should release the 12 minute sex video. that should remove all doubt about the provenance.
