Ok great. Let the unmasking begin.
For one thing, how many people who were unmasked ended up with their names on the front page of the NYT and Washington Post? Very few.
More importantly ... how many of these “unmaskings” weren’t illegal under any circumstances because the people involved were under surveillance by players other than the U.S. government? Probably ALL of them ... starting with Mike Flynn.
Well, I for one will accept the results of this investigation. I dont like it but at the same time, I’ll accept it. Would be nice to tighten up the laws to prevent such abuses in the future, and add penalties for violation.
It’s obvious the government has laws that are written with many loopholes so if there is any questionable abuse, it’s found to be legal.
Some here will flame me, but I have a hard time seeing how the unmaskings just on their own are prosecutable. They are/were “illegal”. But I have never heard nor read about any penalty applicable. It’s all “should not do”, with no “under penalty of XXX.”. I know it is a disappointment.
I think every one of these investigations will hit the same dead end.
Can we ever get a D.C. jury to convict any of them?

Well, then, why bother to proceed with the charges?
I suspect that logic is coming to bear in every one of these cases.
You could also argue that this is all about protecting Biden, since he did one of the unmaskings.
This is George W’s fault for signing the Patriot Act into law and the legislator’s fault since then for not undoing it.
We knew fedgov would eventually abuse the Patriot Act.
If Biden wins, and we also lose the Senate...
What are the odds that not a single republican is charged with a crime, or destroyed by the govt, over the next 4 years?
