The fatal shooting in Denver of Lee Keltner, 49, during a clash between competing rallies over the weekend is just one of many in recent months amid Black Lives Matter protests since the death of George Floyd.
But the shooting of Keltner may have a longer reach than others since he had been hired by a Denver television station, KUSA-TV, to act as a security guard for reporters at the events.
The Denver City Attorney's office said that when the homicide investigation is concluded, the case might not be over.
"Licensed security guard employers that hire unlicensed security guards could face disciplinary actions against their licenses ranging from a fine, to suspension, to revocation," the statement said. "Businesses could also face criminal charges for permitting or directing an unlicensed person to perform security services."

The article got it wrong. The killer was the the one who was hired as security,
Seems to me there were 3 people involved in this conspiracy to incite violence, which cost an innocent man his life. ALL 3 SHOULD BE CHARGED!!!
Yes, I know.
Thank you for actually reading the excerpt.
Serious question...Can President Trump or DOJ step in and take over this case?
“possible”
Give me a break. Charge them or not.
They hired Pinkerton’s: Pinkerton’s hired him.
More likely that Pinkerton could be held liable
I’m betting they check the depths of both Pinkerton and the TV stations pockets.
Seems like the people who should be protected are the Trump supporters - protected from the murderous news teams.
Apparently KUSA parent company brought outsider news folks from Texas and Minnesota to give appearances that the NBC affiliate doesn’t have biased reporting
Local Salem radio outlet speculates 9NEWS may have hired presumed shooter with all his baggage as means to gain entry to antifa crowd expecting to “gain” stories during November sweeps m0nth ratings.
That gain may turn into tremendous loss.
Dead guy Lee Keltner was an idiot to hassle the TV crew but his wife or heirs will hire a trial attorney and get a pile of cash from the TV station that hired the fake security guard shooter. Another deep pocket may be the local security co. [Pinkertons?] that the TV station contacted to supply them with a guard.
Baffles me how that station makes so much money. The last time I watched NBC must have been 20 years ago.
looks like you nailed that prediction this morning:

One thing is clear-either Channel 9 is going to take the hit, or Pinkerton is.
My odds are that Channel 9 is going to.

I don’t know much about the inner workings of Pinkerton, but I darn well understand the inner workings of any media outlet, especially one that many Freepers seem to know better than they would wish to, so...in this case, I hope I am right.
I am so cynical about the media, I would just as soon see them all go into bankruptcy.
I hope the family of the victim owns this station after the lawsuit.
There is armed and unarmed security. There are different requirements. The murderer just doesnt seem to have the armed level background. Was the murderer hired as unarmed, but brought a gun anyway?
Has any article addressed this?
How was he hassling the news crew? I didn’t hear that as being a prime cause.
From what I could see, the fake security guard inserted himself into the situation.
And no matter what, as long as Keltner didn’t lay hands on them, verbally harassing them is protected speech, that is, if you believe in the First Amendment.
There was nothing idiotic about it except the existing fact that enraged Leftists like the murderer are allowed to carry weapons, as mentally unprepared and unhinged as they are, including this guy who did the murdering.
We should respect that man who lost his life out on the front lines against those scum while most of us sit behind our keyboards and type. The safe thing would have been to stay at home, but to paraphrase a Navy saying: “A ship in a harbor is a safe ship, but that is not what ships are for.”
This man Keltner, a Navy veteran and conservative, deserves better than to be called an idiot. Nothing personal, but I do take exception with that characterization.
