Alaska's Supreme Court affirmed a ruling on Monday by a lower state court that threw out a requirement for Alaskans planning to vote by mail to have their ballots witnessed and signed by a person over the age of 18.
"Win for voters in Alaska! The states Supreme Court affirmed a preliminary injunction ELIMINATING the unconstitutional ballot witness requirement for voters. Well keep fighting coast to coast to protect voters from being disenfranchised amid the pandemic," wrote Kristen Clark, president of the Lawyers' Committee, on Twitter announcing the ruling.
A lower court had previously ruled that enforcing such a measure impermissibly burdens the right to vote" amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which is expected to result in more Americans than ever before voting by mail, according to The Associated Press.
Attorneys for the plaintiffs argued that the requirement effectively barred some Alaskans who do not live with someone over the age of 18 from voting.
State officials had fought against a lawsuit brought by the League of Women Voters and other organizations to cease enforcement of the measure, which they said would create unnecessary confusion.

Alaska seems to have been dumbed down by all the freebies doled out.
Democrats are intent on creating the Soviet Union right here.
What what is so hard about getting a witness to sign the ballot?

You said: “I pray to God that He never allows them to be in power again, starting with this election.”
Amen, May God continue to Bless the USA and those who love him here.
I am asking myself if the court simply said it was unconstitutional, or just unconstitutional where no one over the age of 18 was present.
Thank you for posting this. Very relevant today.
Could ask the same question about providing ID when you go to the polls.
The next 4 with Trump needs to be an unrelenting fast tracked purge and restructure of many institutions, agencies and corporations with laws and consequences. Lastly we need to search for a successor after the 4 who will continue to beat these bastards into the ground further and keep them there
One way to keep them there would be if they were not breathing.
The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law was co-opted by the KGB in 1969. This is an actual enemy Marxist organization operating, like the SPLC, as some kind of legitimate entity.
We’re losing on this one. We really need a US Supreme Court ruling that requires chain of custody and witnessing on ballots.
I lived in Anchorage for 4 years in the early 90’s. The place was pretty solidly conservative.
Has that changed? If so, what are the factors?
