A previously unpublished interview with a Nation of Islam minister has revealed a detailed account of a secret two-hour meeting involving Malcolm X and the Ku Klux Klan that discussed an extraordinary unholy alliance.
The conversation on January 28, 1961, detailed in a forthcoming biography of Jeremiah Shabazz, reveals how, on behalf of Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X and a fellow minister sought the white supremacist terrorist group’s help in acquiring a “separate state” for black Americans opposed to integration.
According to Malcolm X’s fellow minister, the Klansmen offered Nation members the right to wear “purple robes” as Klan partners and sought in vain to enlist the Nation’s help in assassinating Martin Luther King Jr.
The meeting occurred after the landmark Brown versus Board of Education judgment in 1954. Organisations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People and civil rights leaders such as Dr King aimed to accelerate the pace of desegregation — in the face of stiff opposition from parents, school boards, and the terrorist tactics of the Klan.
The black nationalist Nation of Islam also opposed integration from its side of the race divide, prompting its leader to accept the KKK’s invitation and send Malcolm X to “meet with them devils” at the home of Shabazz, an Atlanta-based Nation minister. The ministers were to discuss common ground and pitch for land in partial reparation for slavery and the Jim Crow segregation era.
Drawing on an interview with Shabazz, who died in 1998, The Dead Are Arising: The Life of Malcolm X, based on 30 years of research by the late journalist Les Payne and his daughter Tamara Payne, describes how Klansmen arrived in the minister’s black Atlanta neighbourhood in a ten-car motorcade.
Malcolm X said the meeting had been authorised by Muhammad.
A Klansman identified as WS Fellows sought to break the ice at the meeting by attacking Jewish people, whom he assumed were a mutual target and claimed were stirring up agitation among Southern blacks.
He bragged that he had been present in 1915 at the lynching of a Leo Frank, a young Jewish man who was convicted on flimsy evidence of raping and murdering a 13-year-old girl. Frank was posthumously pardoned in 1986. “You should have seen that little Jew’s eyes bulge when we pulled that rope,” Shabazz recalled Fellows saying.
After Malcolm X made his case for “complete separation of the races”, as opposed to segregation or integration, enabled by the acquisition of land, Fellows replied: “Whatever you [. . .] want, it’s fine. Call it whatever you like. As long as you stay over there and you’re glad to be black, good.”
At the meeting, infiltrated by an FBI informant in the Klan, Fellows then suggested that Nation of Islam members could be “partners” of the Klan.

We have that problem right now. The “border” is every failed big city with a large black populations, except that those border cannot be guarded like a national border could.

That’s the way things were and that didn’t work or last. The reason is simple.
Two groups of people who have significantly different AVERAGE IQ and whose members can be easily recognized as belonging to one or the other group, can never peacefully coexist together.
Think about that for a moment and see if you agree with it. If not I can explain further.
The cities’ black populations aren’t really growing; if anything, they’re being forced deeper into the urban cores while imported foreigners fill the growing void between the city centers and suburbs. This creates a lot of friction (see Eric Gardner selling “loosies” outside a bodega run by foreigners, or Michael Brown shoplifting from other foreigners in another state); if anything, it would appear urban blacks are even further removed from daily encounters with any white Americans.
I don’t believe the IQ argument simply because I’ve known too many West African and Caribbean blacks who do well for themselves (very importantly, in the PRIVATE sector - not gubmint workfare programs/jobs). In fact, there is resentment towards them from “African Americans”, because they expose the lies 1) that the system is rigged against black people, and 2) education is biased against black people.

You’re falling in two the trap of judging a population by it’s few outliers rather than the average.
The successful ones you know come from the right tail of the population distribution. They are a tiny minority. (look at the IQ distribution curves of blacks whites and Asians.)
Blacks and whites could peacefully coexist if you could select only blacks that are on the higher end of their distribution curve. As long as you have to take all of them, you’re going to have the problems we have.
A good example of this are Indian-americans from India. Their skin is as dark as Africans, yet there is hardly any discrimination or friction with them. They are very successful, have low crime rates and coexist peacefully.
Why? The vast majority of them come from the highest caste of Indian society - the brahmins who have very high IQs. It’s a type of self selected group. They are the ones that have enough drive, intelligence, wherewithal, etc. to navigate whatever hurdles there were for them to emigrate here. They are part of the right tail of their IQ distribution curve.
The same applies to immigrants from Nigeria. They too are doing quite well and for the same reason.
It isn’t a trap, and I don’t believe the IQ distribution has the impact you describe; I don’t think West Africans and black Americans share the same space on the curve (within the distribution of black IQs). The former can only look to themselves to improve their lot in life, while the latter has been deliberately dumbed down to the status of bipedal livestock.
Unlike Indians, I see people from West African and the Caribbean more evenly distributed throughout the workforce here, and doing well at all levels. The white-collar Indian, due to that very same caste system, can do very little in terms of maintenance/repairs of any kind (in my very limited experience). Even the merchant caste, which is buying up all the gas stations in my area, does no auto work; they sell gas and convenience store merchandise. They either convert the mechanic bays into stores or rent them out to other non-Indians.

Most black Americans came from west African countries. Look it up, also check the average IQ of those countries.

Caribbean blacks also came from west Africa. The difference between the Caribbean blacks that emigrated here in the US vs the black’s already here (or the ones that stayed behind) is that, again, they were self selected, more motivated, smarter than the average. They again had the initiative and wherewithal to successfully navigate the hurdles of immigration, and they were probably relatively successful where they were. All that requires a higher level of intelligence (IQ) , initiative and an appreciation for delayed gratification. All traits that lead to more success in life.

Then blacks in Africa, Haiti, etc should be doing quite well. They should be living in Wakanda, right?
I well realize that everyone in this country (whites especially) has been conditioned to avoid like the plague to talk or even think about the differences in AVERAGE IQ among the races. I was definitely one of them, but after reading the “Bell Curve” and opening my eyes and believing what those lying eyes were seeing all over the world, I had to come to the uncomfortable but reality based conclusion that the differences in the AVERAGE IQ explain pretty much everything we see about race. (I can go into more detail as to what convinced me if you’d like.)
As for people who like to separate culture from IQ, the two are not independent of each other. IQ is upstream of culture. The higher the AVERAGE IQ of a population the “better” its culture, however you want to define better. After all the essence of culture are its values, and it takes intelligence to discern good long term values from bad ones.
I don’t discount IQ in the larger picture; there are just obvious disparities within a group due to culture. Teachers I know see a big difference between the Haitian and black American students, for example; it is no accident that the Haitians are much more likely to have a father in the home.

I was back home this weekend. Memories of Big Sandy. At one time Smith County was dry. If you wanted to buy liquor Kilgore, Palestine, and Big Sandy were the go to places.
If I remember correctly there are good bass tournaments at Lake of the Pines.
