Scientists have confirmed the first case of coronavirus reinfection in the United States: a 25-year-old Nevada man whose second round of the virus was more severe than the first.
The findings were published Monday in the medical journal The Lancet.
The man, who remains unnamed, first tested positive in April before recovering and testing negative in May. Then in June, he tested positive for the virus again, developing symptoms of COVID-19 a second time.
According to the case study, his second infection included more severe symptoms than the first time around, including fever, cough and dizziness.
The researchers sequenced the RNA from both virus samples and found they were two different strains, making it a true reinfection.
Scientists have not concluded why someone might contract the virus twice or if some people are more predisposed to reinfection. The Nevada case marks the fifth case globally of reinfection, and scientists say so far that instances are rare.

So, now as the number of cases start piling up of people who have recovered from the Wuhan Flu, they have to start on the narrative that you are not free to shed the mask, disregard separation and all the other tyrannical dictates. You’ll see governors in damn state say we must continue the masks, lockdowns, restrictions, etc. as we don’t know if the vaccine will work on the strain that’s going around now so until we have a vaccine for every possible strain keep the face diaper on and stay 6 feet away from your fellow human beings and treat them like they are diseased.
In the alternate universe where such tests are known to be 100% reliable then this would be significant. In the real world it simply means that sometimes we can find a pattern of positive, negative, positive test results--which is what we would expect to see sometimes with tests that are not 100% reliable even if it is in fact impossible to get it twice. As one data point, if any person is trying to say this is significant, they do not deserve to be considered a scientist.

Last I read there were 6 strains of the COVID-19 virus in the world. 3 of the strains were in the US. The different strains have slight variations in their RNA. But they all have the same method of invading cells and reproducing and display the same symptoms of infection.
If the man in question had gotten sick the second time and they had found the same strain as he had previously it would be called a relapse rather than a re-infection.
It would be assumed that he had never recovered from the first round but that the virus had simply been dormant for the intervening period.
The important thing to get from this Second Infection part of the story is that they want you to believe that people who are infected by COVID-19 once are not then immune from being infected again by another COVID-19 strain for even a short period of time, even a few months.
This is a ploy to scare people in to being conned into accepting another lock down of the economy.
