Police Identify Guard Suspected in Fatal Shooting During Denver ‘Patriot Rally’

The hired security guard accused of shooting a protester dead during a Denver rally on Saturday was identified by police as Matthew Robert Dolloff.

Dolloff, 30, is being held in connection to a first-degree murder investigation in the shooting, the Denver Police Department announced on Sunday. Family members said the victim was Lee Keltner, a military veteran.

Officials said Dolloff has not yet been charged. He is being questioned about the shooting, which was captured on camera. The shooting happened at a pro-President Donald Trump rally that was disrupted by people with Black Lives Matter and Antifa, who had planned a counter-demonstration.

According to jail records, Dolloff was booked on Saturday night on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Dolloff was hired by NBC News affiliate 9NEWS to provide security during the demonstrations. He was hired via Pinkerton, a company that offers private security services.

“It has been the practice of 9NEWS for a number of months to contract private security to accompany staff at protests,” said 9NEWS in its report.

Pinkerton and the NBC affiliate didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Police said that Dolloff is “a private security guard” who had “no affiliation with Antifa.” There were unconfirmed allegations on social media that he was part of the anarcho-communist group.

On Sunday morning, Dolloff appeared briefly at a virtual court hearing. He uttered few statements, according to Denverite, a local news website. Dolloff is being held without bond.

Social media accounts that appear to be connected to Dolloff show that he participated in Occupy protests in Denver and supported the Black Lives Matter movement. Those accounts frequently shared posts from left-wing media outlets like The Young Turks and criticized Trump—who he called a fascist—and also indicated support for self-described socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), a former Democratic presidential candidate.

The shooting took place on Saturday around 3:30 p.m. near the Denver Art Museum and the Denver Public Library, police official Joe Montoya told reporters. A verbal altercation took place just before the shooting, he said.

Witnesses said the shooting victim was part of the conservative “Patriot Rally” group.

Photographs that captured the incident showed a man deploying pepper spray or a similar chemical as the suspect pointed a gun at him. Moments later, the man was on the ground, shot, while police in riot gear ran over and arrested the shooter.

One video showing the minute before the shooting showed a man wearing a “Black Guns Matter” t-shirt shouting at a group of men who appeared to be with the conservative group, including the man who was eventually shot. The man with the “Black Guns Matter” shirt is enraged, shouting at the group. He tells one to mace him. The shooting victim moves out of the view of the camera. Moments later, a gunshot is heard.

The Denver Sheriff Department directed inquiries to the police, which didn’t return requests for more information on Sunday.

After the shooting on Saturday, Denver police released a statement saying that it “respects the right to peacefully assemble. Those who participate in protests, demonstrations, marches, or other gatherings, as protected by the First Amendment, are reminded to do so in a lawful manner. Individuals who choose to act outside of local, state and federal law, will be subject to citation or arrest.”

Different causes from what I can tell. In fact, a lot of the *fans* of organized sports were responsible for the decline, starting with when pro sports became a fast track for jocks to make fortunes.

So, you are saying hundreds of millions of Americans who watched sports over the years are at fault?

YES. That's the first thing he did after pulling the trigger. Looked right at the camera girl that was working with the agitators trying to provoke the Patriots.

"Did you get that?" Exactly what I thought when I saw this.

This was another staged op by Antifa and the traitor media to paint the false narrative that we are the racist fascists. /spit

Two patriots whose blood is now watering the Tree of Liberty. Both laid down their lives for the country they loved and supported, proving with their lives who the true rascist, fascist, treasonous traitors really are.

Next up? The tyrants? Not soon enough, eventually our tyrants will also water the tree. JUSTICE!

Right...but I think citizen also suggested the guy might be realizing what he has done is all on hi-res recording equipment, and...he might be screwed.

So I am keeping that possibility open as well.

However, while I think the murderer is a mental midget, I have to say, if he didn’t just assume there would be about twenty separate angles with all the people and their cameras recording...well...

I also have to consider the guy is such a dumbass he didn’t even think of it.

It is possible.

Directly and indirectly, yes - and I mean no insult to you personally. When football (and other pro sports) stopped being about leadership, co-operation/teamwork, sportsmanship, strategy, tactics, and began to become a cult of personality that worshipped players and money, more money, always more money is when things started going downhill, and that was in the 70s. Fans may have grumbled, but they continued to watch and support their teams - which meant that the teams got ratings, the teams got more money and the teams were encouraged to go down the same path. Fans grumbled more - but then you could get merchandise by phone! Luxury box tickets! Special vacation packages to watch a game in another city! And the fans bought it up, and bought it up and bought it up. Maybe they grumbled a bit more, but they were paying more money.

And all along the fans were teaching the pros that they didn’t have to give a crap about what the fans thought beyond a bit of lip service; the fans would continue to give them money.

By the early 80s, college ball was similarly infected. Jocks by then were the demigods of campus, untouchable, unaccountable, it was aaallll about their pwecious little children’s game - which they played like individual rock stars thrown together, not like a real team, just so they could get picked by the pros - and everyone else was secondary on campus. So the colleges were turning out spoilt brats for the pros, who were already acting like spoiled brats. See the SMU Death Penalty and events leading up to it.

By the early 90s at the latest, high school football (and high schools) were the same way. And yet people kept watching, kept funding, and kept saying they didn’t approve of the thuggery, narcissism and abuse at all levels of sport while signaling they approved of it with their wallets. Had to keep feeding that addiction, just like a meth addict does - even knowing it’s killing them, gotta shovel more money at it.

The only thing the Left did was redirect the inevitable end stage a little. If it wasn’t BLM the spoiled National Felons’ League were supporting, it would be something else.

No insult taken. That is a version held by many.

The same kind of thing killed the British motor industry and severely damaged the US motor industry. People kept paying for garbage, then wondered why they got more garbage. And then bought another garbage car from the same people in the hopes that somehow it would be different. This still afflicts the US car industry even today.

If fans in general had wanted to keep this sort of thing from happening, they should have stopped watching and financially supporting football when the NFL started allowing felons to play and let corruption begin creeping in. But nooooooo, gotta have “muh football” so the money kept pouring in to the NFL with the unspoken reinforcement that this was the right course of action. The Left literally had nothing to do with it when this happened and they only took slight advantage of the decay already well in progress.

Worth noting that in video games/e-sports, when this sort of thing starts happening in one game/series, generally all the fans stop watching and go to another series. The first series then either cleans up their acts or it collapses.
