I felt much the same as the author of the article. Trump was close to my last choice among the dozen Republican candidates during the 2016 primaries. I have known many wealthy New York and Northeastern Republicans in my life and nearly all were in the mold of Nelson Rockefeller - fiscal moderates and social liberals. I had seen nothing in Trump’s statements prior to being a candidate that indicated he would be any different. Certainly, the best we could hope for from his judicial nominees would be social liberals like Anthony Kennedy and David Souter.

Unlike the author, I voted for Trump in 2016. Even though I had doubts about what kind of President he would be, I had no doubts whatsoever about what kind of President Hillary Clinton would be. I celebrated Clinton’s surprise loss on election night and then held my breath to see what President Trump would do.

It turns out that I was not just wrong about Trump, I was incredibly, spectacularly, breathtakingly wrong. Trump has turned out to be the best President since Ronald Reagan. Trump’s judicial nominees have been consistently conservative, something no other President in my lifetime (including Reagan) has accomplished.

This year I have a Trump/Pence sign in my yard, a Trump/Pence bumper sticker on my truck, and I have happily contributed to Trump’s re-election campaign. I will stand in line on the first day of early voting in Texas so that I can proudly cast my vote to re-elect President Trump.

Ummm, last time I checked, Trump replaced Scalia with Gorsuch, a man who declared that half of Oklahoma should be under the rule of Indian tribes and that the writers of the 1964 civil rights somehow had transgender men in dresses entering girl's bathrooms in mind when they wrote the law.

I don't think either of Trump's so-called "originalist" SCOTUS judges (Gorsuch OR Kavanaugh) will vote to overturn liberal "precedents" like abortion on demand.

I would say you and I CORRECTLY feared Trump would give us crappy judicial picks. Too bad the AlwaysTrumpers refused to listen, and thought ANY judge from his 2016 "list" would be wonderful. (Even Trump admits his original "list" sucks now, that's why he drew up a new one)

What we got wrong about him was everything else.

For example, I'm shocked Trump actually KEPT his campaign promise to move the US embassy to Jerusalem. Finally, some President with BALLS!
