Albany union president accused of heading group indicted on racketeering charges

Union President James Cahill is accused of heading an organization which used its members’ influential union roles to engage in criminal activity. Cahill, who is President of the Albany-based New York State Building and Construction Trades Council (NYS Trades Council), is among 11 officials facing racketeering, fraud and bribery charges.

What is not stated in this snippet is whether they are State or Federal charges.

Does the article say which it is?

Whats news to me is that this sort of crime is actually being prosecuted now, when I’m pretty sure it wasn’t under both of our previous presidents.

New York unions have always been corrupt, like our politicians. Few get punished. Shellie Silver longtime Assembly speaker I believe is still out of jail after his conviction. Senate Minority leader Joe Bruno who passed last Wednesday was convicted of honest services but then let go because of corrupt court ruling.

If you assume they are all corrupt, like the media, you’re correct.
