As much as Democrats detest the confirmation process of Judge Amy Coney Barrett -- panning the election year effort as illegitimate, dangerous and rife with hypocrisy--- they've acknowledged there's little they can do to stop her lifelong ascension to the Supreme Court.
With Republicans holding the Senate majority and seemingly having the votes to confirm Barrett, Democrats say they don't have a silver bullet to stop the fast-tracked confirmation schedule that will kick off Monday.
"There's no procedural move that I'm aware of that allows the minority to slow this process down at all," said Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del. "And trust me, I've asked a lot.

Yinz can thank Harry Reid.
McConnell deserves great credit for this resignation on the part of Democrats. They know he will not relent, no matter what they throw at him.
She better get her a** in gear and pass a stimulus bill that includes everything the two parties agreed on. Dem constituates must be livid because they know it can be done....because the President said it can be done....and said he will sign it.
GREAT news this morning! Thx.
I’ve never been a Turtle fan, but give credit where credit is due. Mitch has been stellar on judges.
The Republicans did not put a 1200 stimulus payment in their plan. Better to do a small focused one which includes 1200. Why bail out airlines before people?
Right
Ram it through. Republicans may never get another chance.
I like the way the writer makes it sound like it’s the Republicans’ fault the filibuster no longer exists.
Also, the writer ignores the difference between a lame duck president (Obama) whose party didn’t control the Senate wanting a nomination, and Trump, who isn’t a lame duck and does control the Senate, starting a nomination.
Democrats have only themselves and RBG to blame.
Empty quiver.
Empty nutsack.
They will just not show up. Leave DC and hide out somewhere.
And we need to give “credit” to Chuck Schumer too.
In early 2017, the filibuster rule was still was in place for Supreme Court nominees. Chuck decided to try to filibuster the nomination of Gorsuch. It was during the Gorsuch nomination that the filibuster was done away with for Supreme Court nominees.
They do have an “arrow in the quiver”, though. Remember with both Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh, we went through the hearings, but then, before the final vote, the Democrats declared that somehow, suddenly, vital new information related to sexual misconduct had emerged, and there was a need to put on the brakes and investigate these new allegations and hold more hearings.
Will the Democrats try that crap with Judge Barrett? We will soon find out. If they try this, hopefully Lindsay Graham and Mitch McConnell shoot it down, and just proceed to a final vote without turning it into a circus.
The republicans in 2016 never should have gone along with election year and instead harp on the fact they were the majority and can do as they please. It would have stopped a lot of the hypocrisy talk.
Teic had nothing to do with Supreme Court changes.
Admit it, Dems! You would do the same thing under similar circumstances
Absolutely!! On judges he has been AWESOME!
Other stuff, meh!
The Kavanaugh debacle was so disgusting that it likely cost the Democrats the Senate in the 2018 elections. To try the same smear tactics against ACB would be more than anyone save the most hard core leftist and Hollywood celebs could stomach. The preliminary attempts to smear ACB over her adopted children must not have found any traction.
