The City of Philadelphia has announced legal action against the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania over gun safety laws.
City officials, including city council leaders and Mayor Jim Kenney announced the lawsuit during a press conference Wednesday afternoon. ---snip---
The lawsuit comes as gun violence reaches historic levels in the city with shooting incidents up 57% over 2019, and the number of shooting victims up 47%. The city also says the number of shooting victims under the age of 18 is up 67% over 2019.

Word of advice to the city fathers. The criminals will still have guns. The law abiding citizens will be defenseless.
Dear Public Servant Kenny:
This my Right.
PERIOD.
You want them, then Molon Labe, motherf*cker. YOU be the first to try and “breach and clear”.
The city is subordinate to the state. Only the state has sovereignty. The state, if it wishes, can wipe Philadelphia off the map.
Send bachelors and come heavily armed.
That’s a Feature, not a Bug.
Helpless people are dependent on the mercy of the state.
Mayor Kenny does his sanctuary city happy dance while criminals run wild:

That is th point of it. According to noted Soviets the criminal class are social allies of the Communists and likeminded totalitarian rulers. The criminals keep the citizens off balance and fearful. Allowing the citizenry to defend themselves is counterproductive.
So what are the gun violence levels in PA cities run by republicans?
I will vote against the city democrats here in Philadelphia. They are playing a game using phoney gun laws as a reason to do electioneering.
So Philly is mad that they can’t enact any worthless gun control laws. How about arresting and incarcerating violent criminals?
Oh wait, that would be racist.
How do they compare to all other PA cities? If the per capita numbers for Phili are much higher than the rest of PA then gun laws aren’t the problem.
Philadelphia is a lost cause but you would never know living there and talking to most people outside of the RICH and POOR neighborhoods. I lived in Philadelphia for many years and the political system is truly fvked up where as a Republican will NEVER see the light of day but most Philly people have a pretty decent personal feeling about rights and liberty for which Philadelphia was founded.
Those of us out here in no mans land have way more guns yet little if any gun violence. Screw Philthadelphia.
The pols never have an answer for that one. Any more than order the suppliers to make the Gun Free Zone signs with larger fonts.
But quick release of the charged arrestees, prison release due to overcrowding and now to Covid and finally fewer police plus police legally inhibited from arresting and holding the physically resisting criminals firmly due to threats of review boards and riots----all that doesn't contribute to more shootings? Not much./S
Without actually reading the story, I’m going to assume that the lawsuit does not mention the demography particulars of the perps and the victims.
“The lawsuit comes as gun violence reaches historic levels in the city...”
London, having pretty much eliminated firearms now has a knife violence problem with the occasional acid violence problem. But whatever you do, no not mention the violent people involved.
Time to cut the big cities loose and let them become city-states with their own government apart from the rest of the state. Add a nice, big wall around them to keep the fine citizens of these city-states from escaping.
