The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has its work cut out investigating how the virus spread and infected the President. But the experts in the cheap seats have fingered the culprit: Abbott’s ID Now test. The White House uses the portable device to screen guests because it can return results in 15 minutes.
Many experts who have suggested that businesses and schools use the Abbott test now complain it is less accurate than PCR lab tests and not reliable enough to identify asymptomatic cases. But lab tests typically take a day or longer to return results. Someone who tests negative the day before visiting the White House could be positive upon arrival.
Abbott says its test is about 95% sensitive when administered within seven days of symptom onset, meaning there is a 5% chance that someone who is positive will then test negative. It’s somewhat less reliable for people who have recently been infected or are not symptomatic, though it’s unclear how much.
“It’s helpful to keep in mind that tests discover the presence of coronavirus once there’s enough viral material in a person to be able to detect it,” Abbott Labs spokesman John Koval noted. “No test detects the virus immediately after the person becomes infected. There is no such thing as a 100 percent perfect and instantaneous test—for any disease.”

Unreliable -Especially if you load the virus onto the test probe.
I’m starting to wonder if there is a possibility that the test kits are giving folks the Wuhan virus? I also saw that the CDC spun their magic wheel and decided that this week the Wuhan ‘red death’ is spread by drops in the air, thus needing masks of some type.
I’m ready to say “to hell with all this” and go back to the preventive treatment standard that Obama set with the Ebola, SARS, swine flu and zika ‘epidemics’.” Which was to do NOTHING rather than let them run their course.
It looks like the Swedes were correct in the best way to handle this, they did virtually nothing.
At the Trump-ACB nomination celebration there were Republicans wearing masks and taking all precautions and still they got infected with SARS-COV-2.
No, it was not related to the reliability of the test.

After decades if evaulating, validating and running lab tests all i can say is i told you so. Everyone was lining up for these tests months ago.
Additionally, the fda changed the molecular rules for negating the very high false pos rates. What did they do.. early in April they changed the reqirements for at least 2 or more genetic targets before a pos can be reported.
Meaning, the mechanism to negate the high false pos rate, was quietly deleted
Additionally, there are amlmost weekly, recalls and notices related to these emergency use, crap tests.
BS the cover up is in full swing. It was not because of an unreliable test. This was a germ of warfare attack by the ChiComs and the DNC I am convinced of it and damn it there is not enough time to get to the truth I fear. I was tested at my doctor’s office. Test sent away, came back negative.
Still coughing. Read that Trump was given 6mg melatonin to clear his lungs. I took 2mg last night, never coughed once.
Had allergy test. Waiting for results. Suspect it’s my cat. She’s staying, I’ll take anti-allerg shots or pills. Never in a million years will I get vaccinated for C=19 or anything else. My doc knows this and is just fine with it.
I wish Trump had originally come out enthusiastically full bore volume 11 hung how on masks. He would have had some time suffering the ridicule, but we would long have stopped wearing masks
You’re on the right track of suspicion. But there are serious people in high places giving thought that this was attack.
The investigation so far has shown the virus was there before the guests arrived.

My son had that test last week and it showed positive. He then had the 24 hr test and was negative. Not trusting the rapid test

I’m allergic to one of my cats more than the other. I had allergy shots for about a year nearly 30 years ago. As a result, I can take OTC medicines to keep things in check now. Before allergy shots, the OTC meds didn’t do enough. For years, I didn’t need anything besides the shots. After a while, maybe 20 years, I started getting allergy symptoms again. So now I rotate which kind of OTC meds I use between Zyrtec, Claritin, and Allegra. I still use Flonase in a very regular basis, and don’t rotate that in or out. I use that in tandem with one of the others. I have lots of environmental allergies, and they change from season to season, but the 2 cats are always present. Keeping them!

but, i’m with you. back in the first weeks of this, a virologist in a top reference lab reported to me that they got three or four of these Abbot point of care machines early on and called them useless for real work back in march.
give me rt pcr from a ref lab every time. i’ll pay for it myself. and don’t trust Abbot Labs anymore, they’ve gone down hill, imo.

Trust neither. Decades of lab testing. If the np swab used for the molecular, was not adequately sampled it would b a false neg. Luckily, it is tilted to more false pos.
I would never, in a million years voluntarily take a molecular test.
The best test.. your symtoms. Esp since the fda changed covid testing to single target pos.
