Every time the NRA calls for money, I tell them not a single dime more from me until the books are independently audited. I’ve been calling for that for years, but after Oliver got the boot, it’s been critical that be done.

No, expensing them as one does with a corporation that employs you. You submit your expenses to the company and you pay them back.

OK, I think I see what you're saying. In vaguely similar circumstances in the distant past, I tended to rely on my boss's office staff to do the initial determination as to what expenses were reimburseable, and rely on my tax attorney to handle the reimbursements properly on my taxes. No idea how anybody else does it, or what the IRS might recommend (if anything).

FWIW, my approach seemed fairly workable, but didn't always pan out, even for a "penny ante" guy like me. My tax attorney once claimed all of my deductions for a relo in a single year, even though reimbursement was delayed in part, and wrapped around into the following tax year (resulting in a large & completely unexpected tax liability, for guess who ;^)...

Aha, that’s where my money is going! Did the Obama holdovers bring Lois Lerner back?

Er, sorry, in my post I got the last order reversed: You submit expenses to the company and the company pays you back. This doesn’t have anything to do with taxes, in this specific case.

If it hasn’t changed in the last couple of years, the IRS rule is that clothing expenses for uniforms are deductible, but that expenses for clothing which are suitable for wearing off the job are not.
