There is no unnamed official ... Big Media is just making it up, they can't let any good news about Pres. Trump get out there, it always has to be offset by something negative

It's actually kind of treasonous, because it could make America's enemies - some of which are really stupid - think there's a weakness in the top leadership, thus encouraging attacks on the country or its citizens ...

You could be correct. The media is not beyond making stuff up out of whole cloth. On the other hand, there could be a Swamp Creature that they have in their hip pocket feeding them a counter-narrative.
