“Ghostbusters” star Rick Moranis, 67, got clocked by a passerby in an I [Heart] NY sweatshirt who punched him in the head without warning. Moranis, stunned, found himself picking himself up off the pavement on Central Park West with pain in his head, back and hip.
Isolated incident, or the latest in a worrying trend?
Aug. 23: A 66-year-old man was walking west on West 129th Street when a man came up and smashed him on the back of the head several times with a bottle.
July 27: A 68-year-old woman standing on the L train platform at Sixth Avenue and 14th Street was kicked and struck by a man who then pushed her onto the tracks. “Being that he called her a ‘cracker,’ we are thinking it’s just because she’s white,” said the victim’s daughter.
July 17: An 89-year-old woman walking near 16th Avenue and 77th Street in Bensonhurst was slapped by two men who came up behind her. One of them set her shirt on fire with a match or lighter.
June 12: A 92-year-old woman hit her head on a fire hydrant after a man passing by casually shoved her to the ground near Gramercy Park. “When they helped me up, I said ‘What happened’ because I didn’t even know what happened. It was completely out of the blue,” the woman said. Rashid Brimmage, 31, of the Bronx, was later charged in the attack, the 103rd time he’d been arrested in New York City.
June 10: A 78-year-old woman walking in Bushwick was struck in the head by a man walking by. Video of the incident showed the man reacting as though he was the victim of an offense.

I can’t go to New York because of Godfather Cuomo’s slapping my state with quarantine orders. What a joke; I’m far more likely to get COVID in New York than here. But don’t worry, NYers, there is no way I’m going to travel to NY and spend any money there.
I feel the same way.
The travel agency near my office used to have organized weekend trips to NYC, by bus.
I always wanted to go because I have never seen New York, but now, forget it. I’ll spend my tourist dollars elsewhere.
Like the South, a part of the U.S. I really love.

I don’t know exactly what he thinks he’s going to gain by destroying NYC, but he sure has it in his sights.
I suspect that Mr. Moranis is now evaluating whether the reasons he lives in New York are still valid. Is going to the theater, which I understand largely no longer exists, one of the reasons? Was going to restaurants, which I understand largely no longer exists, a reason? If that is a reason is becoming a target for the knockout game worth a great and varied dining experience? All the great friendships with people? I suspect they have mostly moved for various reasons. What about the safe public transportation systems? I saw video of gangs insisting you pay them in addition to paying the fare, so, probably scratch that too. Depending on whether Moranis wants to hire personal security just so he can walk outside I guess we will find out, eventually, that he moved to someplace run by Republicans.
I doubt it, libs always make excuses. 500 years of slavery, blah blah blah.
Meh, New Yorkers have been calling folks in the South evil bigots for generations. Hopefully they will all get the bottle.

Situational awareness is imperative, esp. in an urban environment. Not sure that’s high on Moranis’ list...
