Two more Covid-19 cases reported at the White House

An internal memo from the White House Correspondents Association board to reporters says there are “two additional cases of COVID-19 at the White House.”

A journalist who was tested “as part of today’s in-house pool” received a preliminary positive result. And a White House staffer who sits in the “lower press” area of the West Wing received a confirmed positive result on Friday morning.

“All other journalists tested today tested negative,” according to the memo.

“Additionally,” the board said, “we are again asking journalists who are not in the pool and do not have an enclosed workspace to refrain from working out of the White House at this time.”

Unlike pancreatic cancer, getting Wuhan isn’t a death sentence. Without knowing anything else about Trump’s specific health issues, he’s got a 1 in 40 chance of dying from it. Higher than we’d like, but way too early to be measuring him for a casket. Anyway, here’s the link for the age bracket infection mortality study.

I’d say much less than one in forty given that he caught it early. That’s one of the benefits of having the luxury of being tested daily. My understanding is that this virus is easily smote (smitten?) if you treat it early. The danger arises when it has time to progress and hay-wired your immune system to attack the lungs.

Prayers are obviously in order (as always), but this sounds like a tempest in a teapot. The hard part will be deciding how to treat it: HCQ+zinc cocktail? Invercetim (sp?)? Plasma with antibodies? All of the above?

What I’d like to know is what % of the elderly dead had Alzheimer’s, and what the mortality rate is for non-Alzheimer’s patients. Because Alzheimer’s may itself be caused by immune system problems. It may not be a coincidence that a huge spike in mortality rates occurs in the prime age brackets for Alzheimer’s patients

His odds are better than just his age group - He doesn’t have a lot of the typical co-morbidities - diabetes, COPD, heart disease.

How do we know Trump wasn’t “dan savaged” by a member of the press, like Gary Bauer?

It is a virus everyone will be exposed to it...the only way not to is camp out in the wilderness ,,,not see another person til it is over..but then again you still might get it when you come back where people are..the lockdown was so there would be hospital space,,slowing down the spread...just extending the time

That’s what I’m wondering. Was it planted in his inner circle.

My understanding is that this virus is easily smote (smitten?)

*****************

Smitten.

Usage varies according to tense and person.

If David should smite Goliath... (future tense I think)

David smote Goliath (Past tense)

Once Goliath had been smitten, David left. (not sure but similar to what you used.)

It’s been way too long since I was in 7th grade english class, the tenses and persons involved are not as clear these day...I’ve slept since then...but I still know how to use them.

Anyway, you are correct, it is much easier to treat if detected early. Trump also has none of the health issues that are usually present in the most seriosly at-risk elderly individuals. Obesity, diabetes and respiratory issues make this virus deadly.

As far as I know, Trump has none of those issues, never smoked or drank, and is healthy, especially for his age. I’m not worried at all, I think he will come through just fine, and I would bet he’s also been taking Chloroquine as a preventative already. It’s not 100% foolproof, obviously, but if he wasn’t already taking it, he is now. Unless they have another effective treatment we don’t know about.

How early did they catch it? Doesn’t sound too early to me.

And no, no HCQ or vitamin C in his reported treatment either.

His doctors were asleep at the wheel.

Thanks! I can always use an English lesson - I didn’t pay close attention to the grammar classes in my younger days.

Obviously I could be wrong, but I thought they were testing him daily.
