By that logic Lincoln was not the victim of a conspiracy to take out the top level of government because no one attacked Andrew Johnson. I agree with you that there are simpler explanations for why only GOP officials seem to be afflicted, but that’s because no evidence of conspiracy exists, not because of the efficiency of the results.
