President Donald Trump has several strikes against him — age, obesity, elevated cholesterol and being male — that could put him at greater risk of becoming seriously ill from the coronavirus infection he disclosed late Thursday.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump, who also tested positive, “are both well at this time” and plan to remain at the White House while recovering and being closely monitored, according to a statement from his physician, Dr. Sean Conley.
A White House official said Friday that Trump was having mild symptoms.

Are you kidding? Have you even seen him without his suit jacket on? He’s what, 250 pounds and 6’3” tall? He’s at least 30-40 pounds overweight.
That being said, it’s only a slight complicating issue. He reportedly has no high BP and no diabetes.
The President and First Lady are two of the healthiest people on television and in public life. I thought it was extraordinary that they looked better and healthier each time — while most past presidents seem to age noticeably while in office.
If you had to choose two people to get Covid and prove that it is not the bogeyman the vested interests want us to believe it is — they would be a good choice.
They are the cure for the pandemic hysteria that one couldn’t have planned it better this way. They’ll be fine and instructive.
Now if Joe Biden gets it, that’s another matter altogether.

Desperate wishful thinking by the AP. In Missouri Governor Parsons is also older and overweight and he tested positive about a week ago and he has no discernible symptoms and is quarantined but carrying on with his job. Viruses typically morph in to less virulent strains as time passes and I suspect that’s what’s happening with this one. Unless you have something seriously wrong with you the impact seems to be minimal. Yes, someone can trot out their anecdote of the 30 year old healthy individual that died from the virus but policy shouldn’t be based on outliers.

You are right, according to studies (and there are several now) obesity can raise a person’s risk by nearly 30%. My husband and I have been working hard to get our BMI down and we are both at 24% now and normal blood sugar levels.
Not saying that the president is going to get a severe case, just saying we need to be praying he doesn’t!
