The XFL is making an unexpected comeback thanks to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The football league attempted a re-launch this year, and it didn't go all that well. The wrestler-turned-actor, who also happens to be a former football player, stepped in to help purchase the league alongside his business partner Dany Garcia and Red Bird Capital. Now, Johnson has revealed that the XFL will return in 2022.

The wrestler-turned-actor, who also happens to be a former football player, stepped in to help purchase the league alongside his business partner Dany Garcia and Red Bird Capital. Now, Johnson has revealed that the XFL will return in 2022.
Dwayne Johnson made the announcement on Twitter. He released a video along with the announcement, hyping up their plans for the league, which will be skipping 2021. They don't want to rush things, which seems wise since the XFL has failed twice already. Perhaps the third time's the charm. Johnson had this to say in his post.
"XFL returns Spring 2022. As owners, we're proud to champion our XFL players, coaches, cities and fans into an electrifying 2022 season! It's an uphill battle, but we're hungry, humble and no one will outwork us. A league of culture, passion & purpose."
There is no word yet on how many teams will be part of the 2022 XFL season, nor is it clear how many games will be played. The 2020 season had been scheduled for ten games but only half of them were played. It was cut short over public health and safety concerns. The organization announced bankruptcy in April, which paved the way for the sale.

Shouldn’t have pissed-off half your potential fans, dumba$$
Biden Ball. I think the NFL and NBA will end up like Jai Alai—only kept afloat by hard core gambling. Then, one fixing scandal, which will inevitaby come as gate and broadcast revenue collapse, and poof, they’re gone. You can already see them linking up more closely with gambling interests.
I was willing to take a look until his stupid Biden endorsement.
He could have easily kept his mouth shut.
Too bad, so sad, you lose, Rock.
A “pebble” < “rock”...
FWIW, after the endorsement, I’ve seen some have taken to referring to him as “The cRock”.
Dwayne said what he had to for his Chinese masters. Who do you think finances his movies?
That takes me back, when I lived in Florida in the 80s, loved to go to watch Jai Alai.
Don’t worry, it will fail yet again.
There’s already too much football on TV as it is.
In all honesty, if the China virus hadn’t come along, I really think the XFL would have stood a chance.
Now, after all this political rigamarole, we will never find out.
They will bend the knee, just as Johnson did...
The kiss of death!!
Dwayne Mountain Dew Dumber Than A Rock Johnson - no sale, no thanks, not interested in yet another anti-American sports league.
And maybe a little ugly on the side...
XFL is now a hard NO for me
DOA. The Rock. Biden. Covid. Say no more.
Considering who the moron just endorsed, I am sure this will be even more PC. Even more kneeling. Even more black national anthem playing.
Piss on them all and their kinder gentler football league.
Since the Rock now owns some of the franchise, and Vince McMahon does not retain any ownership I will not watch it going forward. Hope it breaks the Rock into pebbles financially. 8>)
Now known as The Crock.
If McMahon owns the league, and is a supporter of Trump, and even has him in the stands at games, does it matter what rockhead says? Every sport has idiots, but if XFL supports America, it will set a good example. We need that right now. I’d love to see it do so well, they decide to launch a fall schedule and compete with the NFL. The American league vs the Anti-American league. It would allow me to watch football again.
