PR should be its own entity, cut the cord.

I bet he would.

How about making Western New York a state?

Or north and south California?

Any state that has a ridiculous amount of electoral college votes is unfair to the rest of the country.

If Dems go nuclear with making two new states and packing the court to overturn the constitution, the Portland riots will look like patty cakes.

Those two places will be a lot better off under Trump.

That’s as reasonable as doing away with the electoral college!

The real long term need is to re-balance the political power between the rural sections of a state and its urban centers. There was a USSC decision that threw this out of whack back in the 1960s. The very late Senator Dirksen of Illinois said when this decision was made predicted what the long term effect would be on Illinois and what it would be on states with large urban centers. It’s basically the financial & political mess these states have become. I wish I could remember the name of the USSC decision.

I'd love to see Schumer and the rest of his cretins do the Houdini Chinese Water Torture Cell challenge.

Funny, other than DC residents, the ONLY time the Ds ‘consider’ DC for statehood is when they DON’T have the power to ‘rush it through’.

WJC & BO both had windows to push it through but DC statehood, like the homeless, doesn’t fit into the mix unless it can embarrass Rs by their opposing it etc....

Thank you! I did not know that there was the modification that you mentioned.

I wonder if would be possible to show what the electoral college would be like if this modification had not taken place.

I trust the founding fathers far more than any politician... whoever proposed that change probably had this as an ulterior motive- what reason did they give for the change?

Try to remember the name- this needs looking into!

Democrats would love to seize complete control.

Sadly, I supposed they eventually will. By hook or crook.

If the GOP Senatorial campaign committee can’t use the Dems intent to overturn the constitution if they win the senate as ammo to win close elections then they are stupid.

“I’m not busting my chops to become majority leader to do very little or nothing.

Schumer is a democrat who knows how and enjoys wielding power. As opposed to Republicans who prefer to substitute talking the talk for walking the walk, as in Attorney General Barr along with the entire Republican party.

Schumer says he wants to slow down the confirmation of Judge Amy Coney Barrett. He knows he cannot stop it. It’s an exercise in futility with the only goal being to harass, make false accusations, make desperate attempts to ruin her reputation and course, try to use the opportunity to bash Trump.

OR, he could do something useful. But that would be serving his constituents and the country, something unimportant to slimeball schumer.

That decision didn’t change the electoral college. In fact the electoral college is the one remaining bulwark against us becoming a “mob-ocracy”. What the decision did was profoundly change the internal politics of states with large urban centers (urban vs rural). Before that decision in many states there was a much more balanced relationship between these centers something like the balance between the federal senate & the federal house. Note that balance was weakened but not eliminated by the 17th amendment.

And I found it !

It was this decision “ Reynolds v. Sims “. Part of the flurry of civil rights oriented decisions to come out of the court. Much of it needed but some of it poorly thought out in its long term consequences. The Constitution guarantees the states a “republican government” not a “what’s-the-flavor-of-the-day” government! I think the legislative structure of the states should mirror the federal government.

We are one wrong turn from a permanent one party state. Which has been the democrats’ goal for some time.

Schumer is more successful in hiding from the media than Biden is. Schumer rarely if ever has a press conference with the media where they can ask him questions. His favorite mode of communication is to stand in the well of an empty Senate chamber and tali to a camera as if he is in front of a crowd. The lap-dog media let him get away with it over and over again.
