Donald Trump's microphone could be turned off in the next debate if he keeps interrupting or he might get a time penalty under Debate commission plans after 'dumpster fire' clash

Donald Trump may have his microphone switched off or even be issued a time penalty if he keeps interrupting Joe Biden when the pair meet again for the second presidential debate next month.

The potential changes could be introduced as part of the Commission on Presidential Debates' (CPD) pledge to make the next showdown more 'orderly', after Tuesday's chaotic 90 minute debate was branded a 'dumpster fire' and a 'national embarrassment.'

Critics have demanded changes to the format, with some saying it was the worst presidential debate in history. Moderator Chris Wallace was faulted for not being able to control the unruly president, who would not stop talking.

Trump has to use Twitter because the media has been “cutting his microphone” from day one. Bring a bullhorn to the debates and make them cut all the microphones.

It will be then that we find out that Donald Trump is fluent in Sign Language.

ALL of this blatant hypocrisy will be exposed on 11/3 when the people, who KNOW what is going on, will vote for the most wonderful president in my lifetime:

PRESIDENT DONALD J TRUMP

This will force each debater to come up with brief answers.

I think I want Slojo to ramble. The longer he does, the more in the weeds he sounds.

Just add back in, the time for each candidate to respond to any lies and attacks made by the other candidate. Then the retort doesn’t need to happen as the lies are spewing out of Biden’s mouth.

Solution: Trump should ignore the question he’s asked and just say what he wants to say whenever it’s his turn.

In essence, ignore the damn so-called moderators.

“...nor do they mention Biden was the first one to interrupt...”

I was surprised at the number of people on this site who credited Trump with interrupting first.

Based on just about everyone’s take, Biden doesn’t really want to have the floor to himself. He will start babbling.

Require that both debaters provide proof for every allegation they make. Example: Joe prove that Trump said white supremacists are good people. Trump prove that Joe graduated in the bottom quarter of his class.

I propose an electronic feature that mutes all microphones when more than one person including the moderator is speaking.

As long as the same applies, it’s all good.

This would actually work out well for Trump. He can adapt. Biden can’t.

This is proof they want it to be rigged. They want to control it. Sorry, but for what is being fought for, either Biden can fight or he can’t. It’s not up to ‘moderators’ to decide. If PDJT needs to beat the snot out of him on issues and do it ugly then that is his choice.

Forget “presidential” - I gave up on that due to Obama’s term. Saying one thing eloquently and doing the exact opposite doesn’t equate to “presidential”.

They just know that they can’t win unless they control PDJT.

“If the candidates can’t control themselves, it’s not difficult to set a timer on the microphone.“

This is preposterous!

When the Democrat tells nonstop lies, and the moderator does nothing to stop it, the Republican NEEDS to be able to interrupt as often as necessary.

And what about debate “zingers” like “Because you’d be in jail.”? That was an interruption (as zingers usually are).

Isn’t the next debate about foreign policy? “Biden’ really doesn’t have much to talk about there, but Trump has had a remarkable run in that area.

My question is, will Wallace be there with his hand up the ventriloquist’s dummy “Biden” again or will they have a new vantriloquist.
