The format is a mess. I agree, I’m not one of those mad at Wallace, he had a job to do. But that format just doesn’t work. Need to go back to the Nixon/Kennedy format. But in this Idiocracy world of ours today, I guess it won’t do. People want blood.

The most damaging criticism I’ve seen about Wallace has come from a couple of people who know a thing or two about producing TV events. They said his whole approach was awful because his questions were long, complicated, rambling ones that simple didn’t lend well to a TV event because they invited long, rambling, often incoherent answers. The questions should have been more direct and succinct, so the expectation would be for answers that are on point.

Wallace tried to moderate a debate that was geared toward an Ivy League debate competition. It should have been run more like a TV game show.
