Hollywood stars ripped Fox News’ Chris Wallace for his role as the moderator of the first presidential debate on Tuesday, saying that the news anchor was too timid and lost control of the proceedings as President Donald Trump took control of the stage through sheer force of will.
Chris Wallace — who repeated that false Charlottesville “very fine people” hoax and erroneously referred to critical race theory as “racial sensitivity training”– had trouble maintaining even a semblance of order as President Donald Trump went on the offensive, dominating the show by aggressively interrupting and heckling Joe Biden.
Celebrities seemed frustrated that Wallace was unable to rein in President Trump, who took a steam-roller approach to the debate, dominating the proceedings through locomotive-size force.
Bette Midler tweeted that “Chris Wallace is a wuss.”
Actress Kerry Washington tweeted, “Is there an understudy who can step in and play the role of moderator?!”
Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus urged Wallace to “get control” over the debate.
The West Wing star Bradley Whitford joked that Wallace would “be a terrible substitute teacher.”
Scrubs star Zach Braff called Wallace the “worst.”
Seinfeld writer Larry Charles simply tweeted, “Wallace sucks.”

Wow, Chris pissed everybody off.
And really when you think about it, did Chris really do Biden any favors?
I say, no. Why? Because it gave the appearance that Biden isn’t capable of fighting his own battles, he needed help from the moderator.

I don’t recall anyone ever going after the moderators of a debate as people are going after Chris Wallace here.
But since all these critics are liberal, they are probably upset that Chris didn’t rein in Trump more effectively, rather than truly being upset about the rules of debate not being adhered to.

True, but next time Chris should be truthful in his intent and allow Biden to be seated next to him.
I don’t think Chris did that bad. Sure he’s a lefty but I really expected much worse from him and he seemed to try (but failed at times) to be even handed. Many called the debate juvenile or a brawl but I prefer that to the ones that put you to sleep and you don’t know anymore than before it happened. Trump shows he’s a volcano compared to Sleepy Joe. Joe had to resort to name calling (his go to defense when angry) to keep his wits about him. I really think Joe was on the verge of breaking down at times but maybe someone put a “bug” in his ear to tell him to keep his cool.
Chrissy kept shutting down President Trump and letting Hidin’ Biden ramble on and on for all to see.
Really would have liked POTUS talk more about issues rather than “these people support me” but maybe that’s his plan, not to give the Dims any idea of his talking points until there’s a more friendly moderator.
The format is a mess. I agree, I’m not one of those mad at Wallace, he had a job to do. But that format just doesn’t work. Need to go back to the Nixon/Kennedy format. But in this Idiocracy world of ours today, I guess it won’t do. People want blood.
Just like Matt Lauer and Hillary, Wallace didn’t do the job because he was trying to save his own rear and was conflicted.Trump had some great head shots, and Biden wasn’t getting clear messages from Ground Contol.
