The first cruise ship to sail in Greece post-coronavirus lockdown was forced to dock Tuesday after 12 crew tested positive for the contagion, local officials said.

The Maltese-flagged Mein Schiff 6 set sail from Heraklion in Crete Sunday evening but its journey was halted following the “unclear positive COVID-19 tests” from 12 of the 666 crew on board, according to Agence France-Presse.

The positive cases, however, were later “identified as negative” in two rounds of follow-up tests after local health authorities boarded the docked cruiser, TUI Cruises said.

Cruise ship operators save money by having their ships flagged in third world countries that have far fewer restrictions and regulations than first world countries. They also hire people from third world countries at lower salaries.

So how did they think they were going to be able to cruise again until the lockdowns are completely over?

“Cruise ship operators save money by having their ships flagged in third world countries that have far fewer restrictions and regulations than first world countries. They also hire people from third world countries at lower salaries.”

Your point?

“So how did they think they were going to be able to cruise again until the lockdowns are completely over?”

You cruise where lockdowns are over.

Can’t the cruise ship owners send the people directly to Cuomo approved NY nursing homes? The news media agree he did a much better job about the Covid crisis than Trump. By far.

Of course the helpless innocent older people who had contagious sufferers brought in to infect them can’t give an opinion. They are dead. Cuomo never got charged.

“The positive cases, however, were later “identified as negative”

The truth is a long way from the headline. Damn convenient since CDC is set to update their recommendations any moment. There cannot be any reduction of hysteria until Nov 3.

... following the “unclear positive COVID-19 tests” from 12 of the 666 crew ...

Just a coinkidink about the crew count ... right?

article ripped off from USA today is VERY poorly written and completely unclear about whether one or both of the subsequent tests are negative:

“By Tuesday morning, the apparently positive members had undergone two tests — the first a PCR test administered by the cruise line and then a rapid antigen test by Greek authorities, according to USA Today. The latter indicated the first test may have been a false positive.”

Original USA Today text is clear that BOTH subsequent tests were negative:

“But by Tuesday morning, all 12 crew had tested negative twice — first with a PCR test administered by the cruise line and again with a rapid antigen test conducted by Greek authorities – indicating that the first test may have been a false positive.”

I bet the CDC are salivating at this. Gives them an excuse to extend the no sail order by another month or two.

Why? They are all negative.

LOL...beat me to it. Gotta be quick!

Seriously, though, who would name a ship “My Ship”?

A more accurate headline would be “First cruise ship to sail post-coronavirus docks after 12 crew FALSE POSITIVE TESTS”

"... 12 of the 666 crew on board..."

A crew of 666? I see your problem right there:

Testing positive without getting sick is very similar to injecting a vaccine with weakened virus into your body. Both tend to build some resistance to further sickness from the same virus.
