The number of COVID-19 cases in the US rose by at least 10 percent in 21 states last week — while a new model predicts a “huge surge” is expected to impact more Americans as early as next month.
New infections accelerated mainly in the West, according to a CNN analysis of Johns Hopkins University data, although some Eastern outliers like North Carolina and New Jersey also saw upticks.
The states where infections are rising include Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington state, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

But as far as I can see on Worldometer FWIW, the deaths are not anywhere near where they were back in the April and May period. Same sort of trends going on up here in the Great White North with a rise in new cases but deaths are so miniscule in comparison.

NYS public officials have admitted that the state is counting repeated positive retests on the same individual as new positives.
Trump has a 3:30 press conference scheduled about “Coronavirus Testing Strategy”. Perhaps he’s about to call B.S. on Casegate.
Regionally, the virus goes through and then there is herd immunity. In Florida our numbers have fallen to the point that we are virtually entirely open with no changes to our counts and no spike. It still has some places to work its way through.
Just in time to close or restrict access to the polls.
I checked seven or eight of the states that were listed, and most did not show a large increase in cases, and none showed a huge increase in deaths. And we’ve seen at least two or three earlier dire projections that fell far short of reality. One that I recall predicted that by early June we would have 100,000 new cases a day and 3,000 deaths a day.

The plan is to discourage or shut down in-person voting on Election Day. Either that or the armed BLM/Antifa members patrolling the open precincts, or the DEM “volunteers” not showing up at all to the precincts in GOP-heavy districts on Election Day.
Clearly an effort to deter and/or restrict in-person voting (which advnatages R’s)
Or an upset stomach for two days. Let’s not underestimate the danger here.
My wife’s place of work requires the employees to wear a mask AND a face shield.
For months now she’s been struggling with a dry cough. She recently took a vacation and after a few days the cough went away; however upon returning to work, it returned within a couple of days.
These precautions may very well turn out to be worse than the disease.
