A Home to Die in [5,834 deaths atributed to Covid-19 in MA nursing homes]

They were the most vulnerable to COVID — thousands of elders in nursing homes across the state. Yet for the Baker administration, praised for its overall pandemic response, they were for too long a secondary priority. The result was calamity — 1 in 7 dead, among the highest rates in the land.

The discovery in Washington state...was an ominous warning on March 27 that the deadly virus may have the ability to spread rapidly and invisibly among the most vulnerable. But it was a warning not heeded here: That very day, Massachusetts leaders unveiled a hastily arranged plan to shuffle hundreds of symptom-free — and untested — residents from one nursing home to others to clear room for older COVID-19 patients discharged from hospitals...

And so it began. Over the next three cold and gloomy days, medical workers moved 137 elderly women and men, many with dementia, out of their familiar rooms at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Worcester, loaded them into ambulances, and scattered them among 18 facilities. They were people like 92-year-old Frannie Trotto, who never recovered from the sudden and disorienting uprooting. Neither she nor the others were tested for COVID-19 because state guidelines at the time called for swabbing only those with a fever or cough. And some may have brought the virus to their new homes...

Long-term care facilities account for nearly 66 percent of COVID-19 deaths here. Adjusted for population size, Massachusetts’ nursing home death rate during the pandemic is the second-highest in the nation. The state’s publicly reported long-term care figures do not include deaths in assisted-living facilities; health officials told the Globe last week that those facilities have reported an additional 457 coronavirus fatalities.

Excerpt from larger article .

Close to half of all COVID-19 deaths have occurred in long-term care facilities, especially elder care facilities which account for over 40% of US deaths.[18][19] Which means that the 99.4 percent of the country that does not reside in those facilities is roughly half as likely to die of COVID-19,[20] even to the fatality rate of COVID-19 probably being “0.13 percent for people outside nursing homes and 0.26 percent — identical to the CDC best estimate — when people in nursing homes were included.”[21]

Sources and much more.

It’s an easy way for the RAT governors to help the financial bottom line in their states. The elderly and dying take money from the budget — a LOT of money in the case of NYS. They’re Democrats so it’s inherent in them to not value human life. It works for them.

For those who don't know it the Governor of Massachusetts hates Trump at least as much as do the Governors of New York,Connecticut,New Jersey or any other state you might name.

Don't be fooled by the fact that there's an "R" next to his name.

Whole lot o older folks on medicade were left to die in old folks homes. Thousands who were old. Costing N.Y. and N.J. billions a year to take care of.
Noncontributing in their latter years, just sent the sick in to do them away with.
Do away with all that cost don’t ya know????

Learned a whole lot about life by talking to folks who were past their Contirbution dates.
History & life.
I am a Christian.
I was sitting on a couch 50 years ago next to an 80+ year old Jewish grandma.
I asked, Bubbie you have lived so long and seen so many changes,
Air travel, T.V. Telephone, what has been that which has made the biggest change in your life?
She said, I was a child on the Steppes of Russia as a youth.
Folks worked in the fields as did I. You had to go you went. pulled some weeds and wiped.
Thanks GOD for toilet paper.
Just saying

where are the CHARGES ?!

In the Mass case, the mishandling of the situation was so bad, there are now criminal charges of abuse and neglect against two who were running one of the state nursing homes.

Have to wonder how many of those that died may have been stressed out by being suddenly moved and that stress contributed to their death.

Also the Social Security Administration has posted on their website that the average SSA person gets approx $1,500 per month. So multiply that $$$ amount per person, and you can see how $$$ that is. Per person per month, year, and in 5,10,15 years. Billions!!!!

"Why did these governors defy federal guidelines, and put COVID19 patients into ill equipped nursing homes??

If one is to follow the 'science' used by Democrat advocates of Global Warming, there is one fact that trumps the rest: There is 100 percent correlation in the observation that ALL of them have a 'D' after their name. In this 'science' that's absolute PROOF of cause.
