Donald Trump says Supreme Court pick Amy Coney Barrett is a pure constitutionalist as he predicts a swift confirmation claiming 'it's hard to dispute anything about her'

Donald Trump said Sunday he chose to nominate Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court because he wanted a constitutional textualist to fill the spot left vacant by Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

'Mostly, I'm looking for somebody that can interpret the Constitution as written,' Trump told 'Fox & Friends' co-host Pete Hegseth during an interview that aired early Sunday morning.

'We say it all the time and she is very strong on that,' the president continued of his pick. 'And it'll be very interesting.'

He added that having Barrett on the Supreme Court would be 'really thrilling.'

'I hope it goes smoothly,' Trump said. 'Perhaps it will. Perhaps it won't.'

He added: 'I think it's going to be very hard to dispute her qualifications or anything about her.'

Trump announced Saturday from the Rose Garden that he was nominating the 48-year-old federal judge to fill the most liberal justice's seat, which became open last Friday after Ginsburg died due to complications from pancreatic cancer.

I can’t wait to see the bluff and bluster from Corey Booker and Kamala and the gang on that committee.

Are they going to have girls dressed as girls from “The Handmaid’s Tale” going to show up, as they did for Kavanaugh’s hearings?

Are we going to have a raucous audience again, interrupting the proceedings, while apologists say that is the sound of democracy in action?

Will Corey Booker do well again as he does his Spartacus audition?

‘Mostly, I’m looking for somebody that can interpret the Constitution as written,’
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A worthy goal.
Missed with Gorsuch, who decided sex discrimination laws should be stretched to include whatever perversion is practiced.
'I think it's going to be very hard to dispute her qualifications or anything about her.'
Just a second there, Mr. President; with all due respect, do you know how she behaved in pre-school?
Trump is the Chicxulub Impactor - bringing about the extinction of Dinosaur politics in the court. Hope he does not end up a shooting star voted out by many misinformed and agenda driven citizens of our country.
Amazing how he held her in reserve when he got the chance to make an appointment in 2018. Incredible foresight and willingness to risk-take.
It’s 1984.
When she was 12, she might have chased a boy.
They’ve probably already paid him for his story!
'Mostly, I'm looking for somebody that can interpret the Constitution as written,'
Pure poison to the Left.
The Dem’s will say she was a brat in kindergarten and beat up on the boys.
Or . . . . they may be stalking her mother, to find out how often she kicked while in the womb. Who knows what other embryos her kicks may have displaced? /SARC
The Dem’s and the Deep State will either find something or manufacture something to try to stop her confirmation.
Remember how Hillary paid for and the Deep State helped circulate the Steel Report that was fabricated lies about Trump? Do not expect any honesty in a Supreme Court confirmation hearing process.
This is all political theater.
Remind the Dem’s that RBG took over for Byron White, one of the two justices that voted against Row vs Wade.
It’s just the pendulum swinging back to where it was originally, not a drastic change.
And he will.
Ya, Gorsuch went liberal on us in that case. So now, the new law of the land, never voted on by Congress, is that this whole panoply of “LGBT” peoples, are covered by sex discrimination laws and policies.
Apart from Gorusch and John Roberts votes in this case, this case is a good “test case”, in my opinion, on interpreting the intent of the writers of a law. There is no way in (fill in the blank), that the drafters of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, in banning discrimination based on sex, ever thought that the word “sex” in that context would ever be interpreted to mean homosexuals, or people who think they are a man trapped in a woman’s body, would be granted rights based on that. Yet with the Supreme Court ruling, that is where we are today.
Well, as we saw in the Kavanaugh case, we are allowed to go back to high school and use alleged high school misbehavior against a nominee. So perhaps they will go back to grade school or pre school with Barrett, and say she was a mean girl, or God forbid, that she was “bossy” in 5th grade.
Yep...And we know how exceedingly long those FBI investigations could take to investigate moral issues that might deeply trouble Rat senators who had their noses up Bubba Clinton's donkey for eight years.
Thank you justice Kavanaugh for fighting through the evil perpetrated upon you and standing tall through it all.
Welcome to your lifetime appointment to the court.
I also want to thank you for the precedent you set (actually the Democrats set) in your hearings because now if the Democrats try to “Kavanaugh” Amy Coney Barrett, there will be an IMMEDIATE backlash on them.
They don’t DARE, but if they do, it will be just another arrow from their quiver straight to the heart of the Democrat Party.
Just how many arrows to the heart does it take to kill a political party?
I don’t know, but we must be getting very close.
