I have a question:

“If all those folks in attendance were, as it looked, to be upright full ball of wax christians, and have been all along, what could they possibly be repenting of?”
If they talk, walk, and act like they think christians should be doing, they don’t have anything to be repentive about!

Unless, maybe, they think they need to be repentive, for everybody else, which is just plain weird.

John 8:7 New American Standard Bible

But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them,

“He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”

So you claim to be without sin?

These men and women have changed their minds(repent) and decided correctly that they need a savior.

You don’t know Christianity, repentance or humility. But you had best learn soon.

1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Terry, we will one day be perfected in Christ, but until then we still sin. The very fact we admit we are still sinners shows we need Christ. It is the shedding of Christ’s blood that covers our sins. Thus we will have Christ as our propitiation. He is sufficient enough for us to be forgiven so we will not be judged with the unbelievers on Judgment day. Without our faith in Christ we will die in our sins like everyone, including you.

Just because I put my faith in Christ does not make me inhuman and immune from sinful desires and acts of sin, it means I can now go to Christ and ask HIM to interceded for be before GOD the Father so that HE will forgive me because I am a child of Christ.

And yes, I must ask for forgiveness daily, because even the act of flipping off a driver who cut me off in the intersection in a moment of lapse is a sin. The very act of lust over a woman who is beautiful and desirous is a sin. Stealing a cookie that is not mine, or getting so angry at the Democrats I want them to pay with pain, is a sin.

I’m to love not hate. I need to love them Like Christ loved those who scourged and crucified Him. But I find it very difficult not to want to destroy their very existence. Even the thought of what I want to happen to them is a sin, and I must repent of it.

While my flesh will always desire the pleasures of sin, my spiritual self will continually count on Christ to make me stronger by the day, so that I can resist the temptation to do things I know are wrong but too weak to resist at times.

I may never reach the point of sinlessness, in fact I know I will not, but at least I have the best lawyer in the business when my time comes for me to face the All Mighty Judge, GOD. Christ, who died for me 2000 years before I was born, will stand before the Judge and say, Father forgive him, because I paid for his sin. That is what Christ did, HE paid my penalty in full on the cross. All I need, all you need, is to believe in HIS sacrifice to be saved. Then the ULTIMATE Judge will forgo the judgement we deserve and thus we will be granted an eternal existence in GOD’s presence.

What will you count on when the day of Judgement comes? Good luck, because without Christ you will burn in the eternal fire of damnation. Which is the second and final death.

So you see, as a Christian I must admit I am weak and unable to be perfect, but that’s OK, because as I continually come to GOD, in Christ’s name, admitting my failure to be perfect, I know He will forgive me.

Amazes me how so many are willing to perish, just because they refuse to believe. It’s easy to do. The rest will be done by Christ.

If you do, and truly mean it in your heart, that’s it. You will be saved.

The rest?

Well, like us, Christ will start a good thing in you and in time you too will be asking for Him to stand in the gap for your stupid little sin of flipping off that driver who cut you off on the way to work.

Just believe. Simple. No mountain to climb, no rituals to accomplish.

“”””””” God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
”””””””
