Now that Gallup has quit the field, Rasmussen Reports is the only nationally recognized public opinion firm that still tracks President Trump's job approval ratings on a daily basis. If your organization is interested in a weekly or longer sponsorship of Rasmussen Reports' Daily Presidential Tracking Poll, please send e-mail to beth@rasmussenreports.com.
Some readers wonder how we come up with our job approval ratings for the president since they often dont show as dramatic a change as some other pollsters do. It depends on how you ask the question and whom you ask.
To get a sense of longer-term job approval trends for the president, Rasmussen Reports compiles our tracking data on a full month-by-month basis.
Rasmussen Reports has been a pioneer in the use of automated telephone polling techniques, but many other firms still utilize their own operator-assisted technology (see methodology).
Daily tracking results are collected via telephone surveys of 500 likely voters per night and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. To reach those who have abandoned traditional landline telephones, Rasmussen Reports uses an online survey tool to interview randomly selected participants from a demographically diverse panel. The margin of sampling error for the full sample of 1,500 Likely Voters is +/- 2.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Results are also compiled on a full-week basis and crosstabs for full-week results are available for Platinum Members.
So without having to read through all that, and not remembering what his numbers were last time, is this good news or bad?
And yet somehow we are going to vote out one of the best Presidents we ever had and replace him with Senile Joe........
The Ministry of Propaganda are lying dog faced pony soldiers
I think this ties his record high - and hes peaking - which is probably a good thing as well
Gallup is one of the few who determined that getting a legit political poll is no longer possible.
If this 4% positive difference holds through election day, based on the turnout in 2016, Trump would beat Biden in the popular vote by 5,554,000 votes.
No President, who has attained over 50% approval prior to an election, has NOT been re-elected.
Thanks!
Not quite record, but close. The key is that hes been at 50%+ for the last 10 straight days.
RE: If this 4% positive difference holds through election day, based on the turnout in 2016, Trump would beat Biden in the popular vote by 5,554,000 votes.
I have a question -— how did you come out with the 5.5 million vote figure?
Based on the actual total numbers of votes cast in 2016. Of course, the past is no predictor of an actual 2020 election but, I just thought I’d calculate 4% of the 2016 election votes cast.
Other than when bin Laden got the business has 0bama’s app rating ever gone over 50%?
This is good news. 50% is sort of a magic number. Above that almost guarantees reelection. Below it reelection is still possible, but 50% is almost a lock.
A few more good riots and we will be there.
Trump is a known quantity. Hes consistent, calm, and good for the economy. Everyone in the world knows this to be true.
Rephrase that positively.
You meant to say...
Every President, who has attained over 50% approval prior to an election, has BEEN re-elected.
Instead of.... “No President, who has attained over 50% approval prior to an election, has NOT been re-elected.”
