A simple majority of registered voters are on board with abolishing the Electoral College for presidential elections in favor of the popular vote.

According to a new Hill-HarrisX poll released Tuesday, 51% of respondents said they would be in favor of weakening the influence of states without dense populations on the outcome of the election, whereas 49% believe it should be kept "to distribute voter power among all 50 states."

With this poll likely having contacted the majority of its respondents in the most populous states where this idea is more accepted.....

A majority of the people being polled don’t understand what the Electoral College is and why it was put in place.

80% of voters could not tell you what the Electoral College is.

And WHERE is this “majority”? In those states/cities that would hold 100% of the electoral power if not for the Electoral College that was specifically set up to give a voice to the “rest of us”...

This amazingly parallels the odd reality that 100% of those who support abortion... were themselves given the chance to live.

Most respondents felt that Marxist professors were just indoctrinating students and that closing the Electoral College was probably a good idea.

If you void the contract that convinced smaller states to enter the Union in the first place, then, since the contract has been voided, they should be allowed to leave the Union.

We could call the new nation Heartland, or Flyover Country, or No Longer Deplorables Nation.

The breaks the deal that put the Union together in the first place. ALL the small states need to secede if that happens. It is only fair.

“80% of voters could not tell you what the Electoral College is.”

And they are being told they are being robbed of their vote.

Thank the communist party. The teachers were indoctrinated, then teach their indoctrination. The teachers are incapable of critical thought. We have two, maybe three generations of teachers indoctrinated in Marxism.

The push to kill Western Civilization arose in the 1990s when schools all over the country abandoned teaching Civics and true history. We are reaping that horrendous harvest.

My bet is that most of these people couldn’t explain what the Electoral College is, how it works, and why it was put in place. Maybe they should ask only those who can explain what the Electoral College is.

It makes sense that a simple majority would favor popular vote...eyes rolling...

“Fully overhauling the way the president is selected would take a Constitutional amendment, which would require the votes of two-thirds of the U.S. House of Representatives, two-thirds of the Senate, and three-fourths of the states.”

I can’t see 38 states voting to abolish the EC.

Majority of voters want to eliminate Electoral College: Poll

If that were remotely true (it's not), the Constitutional Amendment to eliminate it would be flying through the 50 states.

Repeal the 17th. The Senate was meant to protect states rights.

Per the Electoral College, the states elect the President.
