Sen. Ted Cruz blocked a ceremonial resolution honoring the life of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg after Democrats, under the direction of Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, tried to use the occasion to push a political message.
The Texas Republican objected to language added to the resolution noting Ginsburgs reported dying wish that a successor not be chosen until after the election, according to the Texas Tribune.
Speaking from the Senate floor, Cruz said, Unfortunately, the Democratic leader has put forth an amendment to turn that bipartisan resolution into a partisan resolution.
Specifically, the Democratic leader wants to add a statement that Justice Ginsburgs position should not be filled until a new president is installed, purportedly based on a comment Justice Ginsburg made to family members shortly before she passed, Cruz said.

Good for Ted....instead of letting it advance. No matter how you cut it...Ruthie thought killing babies was some kind of perverse right.
Wish in one hand and crap in the other to see which arrives first. I’ve been wishing some things too but so far been very disapointed. If I could just do that Jeannie thing with the crossed arms and head nod.....................
Dear GOP:
The Democrats are your enemy, they are the enemies of the Constitution. Do not think that you can work with them in good faith.

Yay, GO CRUZ!
That is a deceitful headline and first paragraph: “Sen. Ted Cruz blocked a ceremonial resolution honoring the life of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg...”
If I read it correctly, the resolution goes ahead. Cruz merely took out the inflammatory language about apocryphal story of her dying wish.
Yes, good for Ted. Don’t let ‘em get away with this crap.
Attaboy Ted.
Glad somebody was paying attention.
See my tag line.

AND....that American law and the Constitution was hopelessly deficient...
Schumer took to the floor immediately after Cruz spoke, stating that he believed “Justice Ginsburg would easily see through the legal sophistry” of Cruz’s argument. He said Cruz turned the late justice’s “dying words” against her, which Schumer said is “so, so beneath the dignity of this body. I do not modify.”
Cruz then objected to the resolution, and it did not pass.
I see deranged people in my neighborhood with flags at half-mast.
Good for Cruz, time to get tough with the democRAT scumbags.
It’s about time the GOP starting pushing back hard on the Democrats. They have spent the past four years putting Trump and the country through sheer hell. They also need to be roundly defeated in November.
The Dims, on the “never led a crisis go to waste” theory, ALWAYS insist on turning every death into an opportunity for their politics.
In this case, an opposite to half mast would be useful, such as flying two flags.
I said nearly the same thing! “If I could, I’d EXTEND the flag pole and raise it higher!”
If I were in the Senate Id vote for a pro forma resolution of condolence, but no, the rats can never give up their lust for power for even an instant. On the other hand, given how political this tyrant was, trying to pull a fast one like this may be a fitting tribute
