Most Americans have lived their lives watching politics as though it were a bad TV show. They have found it boring and distasteful. They've preferred to think it doesn't matter. For thirty or forty years, the shift of power from local and state governments to the federal government has been insidiously gradual. It has been just gradual enough to comfortably ignore. The Constitution has not been broken so much as it's been eroded. The rot has long been with us. We have gotten used to it. We've even spawned a couple of generations of genteel conservative pundits and columnists who've lived quite well by eloquently complaining — and doing nothing. There has always been enough normalcy left to allow ordinary people to mow the lawn, save for a vaguely plausible retirement, and watch a football game or two. Now and then, our leaders have even gotten something right. Now and then, you win while playing slots at a casino. It's a good strategy for the casino to let you win now and then — to keep you playing.
I have a coworker, a man whom I would not consider an idiot, who said about the upcoming election: "Well, I just don't know. I'm not comfortable with Trump's tweets. I really don't like the way he treats people."
"Have you seen Joe Biden lately?" I asked him, thinking that might be a bit more polite than "Are Trump's tweets more offensive than the decision of Democrat mayors to let their cities burn?" or "How would you feel if they started calling you Hitler even before the election?" or, even more bluntly, "Are you outta your f------ mind?!"
My friend is not out of his f------ mind. He's a decent and thoughtful man.

Mental illness has a lot to do with these dopes. We all know many, in and out of our own families. While they watch the cities burning and lawlessness they make comments like yeah but trump hurts people with his tweets

Republicans made the mistake of saying “you might not like his tweets but ...” This placed the idea as an accepted fact in many people’s minds, and it’s overly defensive.
The fact is the president toned down his tweets some time ago.
It’s going to be ugly. Biden has 600 lawyers. Trump has at least 500 lawyers. What can go wrong?

People are sheep was proved in March when they ordered the country closed and everyone “locked” in their homes. That lasted at least 6 weeks before the first “why are we doing this?” began. I think it will be a cinch to take over America.

I knew this country was doomed back in March when I saw how many dopes would get on THIS website and scold their fellow conservatives because we refused to shut down our businesses and huddle in our homes over this stupid pandemic.

This election reveals what happens when totally corrupt politicians and judges are in power. And no one opposes them. Here, in Louisiana, the Republicans control both Houses, either veto proof or nearly so. Special session of legislature has been called. We will see.
Some people cannot deal with chaos - especially when its right in front of them — they will go to the most simplest issue and stay there -because that is something they can wrap their heads around...
Those people are the ones that will stand on the beach and watch the all the water drain back into the ocean at once — all the while thinking about what they would like for dinner... instead of running inland and climbing on the tallest & strongest structure ...
they don’t get real dangers — they will discuss and divert to anything simple to stay away from the complex!
Those people are dangerous to be around during an emergency - or to count on them when an emergency arises — they will not act !
I have seen that in business.
I watched workers learn that their small department had just been terminated. Most of the workers went back to their desks and shuffled papers until they were told they had to pack up and leave.
Denial is a powerful defense mechanism...to the point of being completely irrational.
