Biden Won’t Answer Court-Packing Question. On an issue that could effectively create a revolution, the candidate is mum.
National Review ^ | September 22, 2020 | Andrew C. McCarthy

President Trump gets a lot of heat for his answers to questions. Much of the criticism is appropriate, some of it is mock outrage, but one way or the other, Trump does answer the questions.

In fact, he answers hundreds more questions than his opponent. COVID has been devastating for the country, but it’s been a boon for Joe Biden, who has undeniably lost a step or three and does not do well with sustained exposure. Since the former vice president is rarely made available for questioning, you’d think he would answer the questions that he faces on those few occasions. You’d also think that, when he declines to answer legitimate, important questions, that would be a big deal.

But he doesn’t answer key questions. And his media friends calculate that if they give you the inside scoop on the amazingly deft political strategy behind not answering questions, you’ll be so wowed you won’t notice that the answers are what matter.

There is no bigger issue in the 2020 campaign than whether, if they take the White House and the Senate, Democrats would eliminate the filibuster. Expanding and packing the Supreme Court would be a direct result of this, and a radical one. But it is only one of a plethora of radical steps that would follow — expanding and packing the lower federal courts, statehood for the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, single-payer healthcare, elements of the Green New Deal, a massive bailout for mismanaged blue states, breaking up and regulating into submission private businesses, hamstringing the nation’s police forces, gutting the Second Amendment, sweeping immigration amnesty, and so on.

Yet when asked Monday about whether he supported calls by many Democrats to repeal the filibuster and expand, then pack, the Supreme Court, Biden refused to answer

If Tom Clancy had written a novel that all the things that are happening in America right now, it would not have come across as believable.

We have people calling for defunding of the police. We have groups marching into suburbs and demanding that people give their homes to them. We have members of Congress openly advocating for a socialist revolution.

We have a Democrat candidate for the Presidency who has apparent cognitive issues, and the Democrats are ignoring this and trying to get him across the finish line as President - even though many likely know he won't be able to serve even 1 term.

We have those on the left threatening to ‘stack the Supreme Court’ by increasing the number of justices and appointing leftist ideologues. We have those on the left pushing for abolishing the Electoral College. We have wealthy liberals paying off debts and fines so that felons can vote this election cycle.

We have anarchy in some of our cities, and some have been perpetual war zones. We have babies and toddlers being caught in the cross-fire of inner city gang violence.

Craziness abounds.

If they really want to pack the court, Trump has a list, they could do it before the end of the year.

We can't let this happen.

Which Obama? When Biden was talking about how unfair it would be to the person to name them, he said ‘she’. That would be Mooch.

And he can’t avoid it if he shows at the first debate; one of the subjects is the Supreme Court.

Hmm, just had a thought-maybe Hillary wants it as a consolation prize?

sweeping immigration amnesty
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Flimsey Grahamnesty has already voted for it THREE times.
I don’t know how we stop it when we re-elect the same Bush League Republicans who got us here.
“President Trump gets a lot of heat for his answers to questions. Much of the criticism is appropriate...”
Much? Why the gratuitous jab?
For a legal commentator with a reputation for being both brilliant and honest, McCarthy’s writings are always both spot on and totally wrong.
He is hard to figure.
He was a Federal prosecutor. Even though he has somewhat seen the light, deep in his heart, he thinks the crooks, thugs, weirdos and commies in government are swell.
The truth is that Biden will never become President.
Trump 300, Biden 229.
I’ve yet to see a story of the Biden constitutional crisis. How do you get a mentally defective president to step down? Who gets the nuclear football? What if China invaded somewhere and Biden is having a “bad day”? Does Jill make the decisions?
There was a season of the West Wing that went into a scenario like this.
If he steps down, can he step back in as POTUS?
