Evidence is mounting that Sweden has beaten the coronavirus with herd immunity rather than a lockdown, according to a renowned expert on the spread of disease.
Swedens infection rate has remained low and stable at a time when other European countries are facing a strong resurgence.

Africa as well.
Ta dah!.... Remember all those stories where the media said it would ‘explode’ in Sweden and everybody there would suffer... Media Fail!
The alarmists who clamored for lockdowns will be quick to correct you in saying that they were just trying to mitigate deaths and overwhelming the hospitals and will claim that we succeeded..... except of course they will not claim anything of the sort when Trump’s name is involved
Amazing that a time tested theory regarding a Virus that has worked for a couple thousand years, still works today!
Clearly White privilege was involved...and ABBA somehow.

Yep, who wouldve thunk it!
RE: Sweden has beaten the coronavirus with herd immunity
Let’s wait for the flu season to see what really happens ...
WSJ had an article that “experts” estimated that the herd immunity percentage was 50-60% of the population. They had Sweden at less than 20%, so if Sweden is there then that should hold for the rest of the world. That would be a good thing and is in the range where the cruise ships ranked.
I think NJ and NY are also past herd immunity but we won’t find out until Cuomo and Murphy take the lockdowns off and travel restrictions off too. Those two are enamored of the control and have fastened on a test infection rate of 1% or less of test subjects. Travelers from states that are over that can’t travel tp NY or NJ unless they self quarantine for 14 days.
Countries that locked down initially had lower death and infection rates than Sweden, but each time they loosen controls they see new spikes. Sweden initially had higher rates, but it has now fallen to very low with no follow-on spikes. Sweden is already in better shape than UK, France, Spain etc and by the time its all done will be in much better shape than any of them.
Holland didn’t shut down either, and falls in about equal to the US so far.
You can tear off the bandaid slowly or quickly, but either way it is coming off.
And, interestingly, Sweden’s “excess deaths are now negative- while it’s growing again in Germany and Britain!

(Also, US excess deaths” have fallen to zero- or nearly.)
The big difference in Sweden is that it’s people naturally ‘distance’, and they followed persuasive suggestions of the government to protect themselves.
Wish they had done more for their elderly- but back then who knew it would matter so much?
What does that mean? “Wait for the flu virus?”
By locking everything down you only prolong the presence of the sickness. It is likely that the number of dead would not be any less had people not been forced into Panic mode. Some measures could have been taken to lessen the lethality in certain groups like nursing home residents in New York and New Jersey. There was also normal seasonal flu going around at the same time last winter and those strains had their own body count which was mostly added in to the WuHan count where it could have a more satisfying political impact.
Calling Captain Obvious! Flubros vindicated.
You mean you can “go through” the epidemic faster than if you are slowing/stopping the spread?
It’s just hard to fathom. Let a virus run its course and then it stops.
The last date on both of those reports should have been 09/20.
Sorry about that.
Herd immunity was unacceptable in most Western countries because liberal politicians might have gotten sick.
