The far-left Newsweek just fired off around a thousand words falsely accusing Amy Coney Barrett of inspiring the dystopian feminist thriller The Handmaids Tale, and has been forced to retract it.
L to the M to the A to the O.
Of course, the fake news outlet didnt retract-retract it. That would require ethics and integrity, and anyone in the media who engages in ethics and integrity will be booted from the club, so Newsweek just wrote the equivalent of nevermind at the bottom of its big lie and rewrote the big lie a bit.

Ping!!
Reminds me of what Amy Adams would grow up to look like.
Okay, I never read the Handmaid's Tale, and so my understanding of it is second and third hand. But from what I understand, women are severely oppressed, treated as second-class citizens, and not even permitted to read. Or so wikipedia tells me.
So I'm struggling to reconcile the image of women in that book with Amy Coney Barrett's lifelong career as a highly-educated lawyer and judge.
just one reason why the Senate should skip the hearings and go straight to vote.
This isn’t a time for reason and logic, it’s all about panic and emotion ... it’s all the Democrats have at this point
So it’s “anyone-connected-to-Trump = secret Nazi” all over again
The Rats never had anything more.
The Handmaid's Tale was written in 1985, a relic of the Reagan era, and imagines a future where Moral Majority, 700 Club, Pat Robertson, Jimmy Swaggart, Jerry Falwell types of Christians are in charge and have implemented the type of Bible-based theocracy that liberals all throughout the 1980s predicted would happen.
Watching the show today the whole premise now seems laughably preposterous and dated.
This future does exist today in places like Saudi Arabia and Iran but fans of the book get angry when you make this comparison.
C'mon man! These girls just sent their red robes and bonnets to the dry cleaners!
Meanwhile, Fox News has been pushing for Barrett pretty hard. Here, Fox News implies that she’s already been chosen for the nomination. Fox News pushed the same just before Justice Kavanaugh was picked.
Amy Coney Barrett is not wildly out of mainstream: Brit Hume

“With Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s name on President Trump’s short list to fill the vacant Supreme Court seat following the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, it’s going to be a “very intense” process, Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume argued Monday night.”
The political and powerful create a slave race to breed children for those who don’t want to be inconvenienced or can’t conceive.
In some ways, it reminds me more of “Hunger Games” or “Soylent Green” than anything remotely similar to Pro-life Americans.
Newsweak is suggesting that traditional Catholics treat their women as property, which they dont.
But if Newsweak was serious about this concept they could look at any Islamic Republic state like Saudi Arabia or Iran and literally say this. They could speak to any of the political Muslims of this country that espouse Sharia Law and get a confirmation of this tenet of Islam (if they were truthful).
But Newsweak and the Democrats will not embarrass their allies not to mention that they are cowards when it comes to the Religion of Peace.
Massive damage done- then a small retraction. (because they don’t want to get sued)
I have not read the book, but from what I understand, its based on a society with Sharia Law.
Atwood took inspiration(if you could “call” it that) from the growing influence of the Christian Right in the 70’s and 80’s as well as from the Iranian Revolution in 1979. She was coming at it from a all extremist religions beat up on women” angle.
Amy was 13 years when the Atwood book was written in 1985.
I think of Hunger Games as I see the current US situation.
There’s also Divergent, which is set in Chicago. Another dystopian novel.
The book presents a fictional America that looks like ISIS took over.
Liberals in academia assign it in many programs as required reading. And some demonize Christians as wanting to really do this.
There are a lot of liberal conversation threads saying she’s a Serena, the evil privileged white Christian woman who will put everyone else in de facto burqas. Or she’ll be an Aunt, supervising sex slaves and telling them to stay home barefoot and pregnant.
The smear - a thousand words.
The retraction - “nevermind.”
