Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) said the Senate must honor Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburgs wish to be replaced after a new president is elected, despite demanding the Senate to do its job by holding confirmation hearings and voting on former President Barack Obamas nominee, Merrick Garland, in 2016.
With voting already underway for the 2020 elections, Ruthies most fervent wish was for her replacement not to be named until a new president is installed. We must honor her wish, Warren said in a statement on Friday:

So RBG died and was made God.
Got it.
These people are children.
Warren will demand scalps and go on the warpath if she doesn’t get her way from the Republican white-eyes...
This is unreal. “Because she wanted it so” is laughable.
Hey Ruthie,
Guess you screwed up by Knot retiring and letting the America hating magic negro nominate a replacement for your sorry baby killing ass, huh baby?
She dead.
Right Liz. This is when the “dying declaration” clause of the Constitution kicks in.
She’s nuts. Who cares what she thinks!
Democrats ignored Antonin Scalia’s dying wish: “I wish this guy would take this pillow off my face.”
Sorry PocaHonky. The Republicans don’t have to do anything just because you say they must.
Rats:
“DOH! All Ruthie would have had to do was wish for us to kill Trump!”
RBG knew SCOTUS are not Installed. She never would have used that term. Besides she is dead. Her death is a September gift from God.
Well of course, the Senate must adhere to the magical dying wish clause of the US Constitution.
True. Who sleeps with a pillow over tbeir head?
What then?

Just days before her death, as her strength waned, Ginsburg dictated this statement to her granddaughter Clara Spera: My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.

21 Sept: Snopes: Did Ginsburg Say Her Most Fervent Wish Was Not To Be Replaced by Trump?
The U.S. Supreme Court justice dictated a message to her granddaughter shortly before she died.
by DAN EVON
As transcribed by her granddaughter, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said: My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.
RATING: Correct attribution
As McConnell reversed course in 2020, saying that Trump should be the one to nominate a replacement for Ginsburg (despite the fact that this seat on the Supreme Court Bench opened up just 46 days before an election), a quote supposedly uttered by Ginsburg during her final days expressing that her most fervent wish was not to be replaced by Trump started to circulate on social media:
TWEET: Kumail Nanjiani (ACTOR/COMEDIAN) - 19 Sept 2020
No matter where we go from here, this is a remarkably selfless statement to make on your deathbed:
My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new President is installed.
RIP Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Despite the origins of this quote, Trump cast aspersions on this remark, baselessly claiming that it could have been written by a Democrat...

The NPR reporter said that Ginsburg dictated the statement to her granddaughter Clara Spera
My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed, Ginsburg said
On Monday during an appearance on Fox & Friends, President Donald Trump floated that the statement was a creation of top Congressional Democrats
But that sounds like a Schumer deal or maybe a Pelosi or shifty Schiff, Trump suggested

VIDEO: 21 Sept: The Wrap: Tucker Carlson Trashes RBG Over Final Wish for SCOTUS Replacement: Pathetic (Video)
Did she really leave this world fretting about a presidential election? Tucker said, mocking the late Supreme Court justice
by Phil Owen
Tucker Carlson once again complained about the late Ruth Bader Ginsburgs final wish on Monday, saying its insulting to having an issue with letting a historically unpopular president choose RBGs replacement right before a new presidential election.
Tucker started out his Monday Fox News show complaining about any Democrat who had talked about RBGs wish. Per Clara Spera, her granddaughter as reported by NPR Ginsburg said days before she died: My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.
Consider for a moment the reasoning here, the argument that theyre making. Nothing is more important than our Constitution that Constitution is in grave jeopardy. Thats why we must substitute an 87-year-old womans final wish for the constitutionally prescribed process for filling a supreme court seat, Carlson ranted dryly...
Thats what theyre arguing. Got that? Pretty amusing. Keep in mind we dont really know actually what Ruth Bader Ginsburgs final words were. Did she really leave this world fretting about a presidential election? We dont believe that for a second. If it were true, it would be pathetic....
Life is bigger than politics, even this year. We wouldnt wish final words that small on anyone, so were gonna, again, choose to believe that Ruth Bader Ginsburg didnt really say that, Tucker went on. That in real life, she was thinking at the end about her family and where she might be going next. Human concerns not partisan ones....
In practical terms its irrelevant what she said. Ruth Bader Ginsburg doesnt get to pick her replacement from her deathbed. Thats not how it works. We have a Constitution were supposed to be defending, remember, and thats the whole point of the Constitution. If Justice Scalia had said something like that, nobody would have cared. We would have been embarrassed for him. Thankfully, he didnt say that, Tucker said.
On some level Democrats know all this. All this talk about Ginsburgs dying wish is ridiculous and insulting to all of us and our country. And theyll stop soon. Democrats have an alternative argument at the ready and its one theyve been honing all year. It goes like this: do what we want or we will hurt you. Thats the real argument theyre making.
