How's this for weird? If you like to cook, somehow you can't go to the store to get a spice container of paprika anymore.
That's because there isn't any, the shelves are bare.
Lot of people are noticing these days. Tim Carney of the Washington Examiner pointed it out here and others chimed in:

paprika wouldn’t work on squirrels, you have to use something made from really hot peppers, like chilies or ghost pepper powder.
Paprika is good to feed chickens to make the egg yolks deeper in color.

Hungarians are big paprika users. Don’t know if they still grow a lot.

Ollies!
Plenty of paprika, onion powder, cilantro, nutmeg, chipotle . . .
I use a super soaker squirt shotgun with chili pepper tea to dissuade squirrels on the pool cage screen. Also works on the damn bunnies in the flower garden.
14 yrs post grad education. Sad what I have become.

I always thought the sole use for Paprika was to top off deviled eggs. But years ago, realizing there was no paprika in the spice rack, I substituted Old Bay and I have never looked back.

Can’t find any ground oregano. All I can find is roughly chopped.

Just like pistol and rifle primers I stockpiled paprika...guess I have to start selling things at an even bigger markup. Fortunes change overnight 😄

P.S.- a lot of the raw stock for the production of OC comes from the waste products derived from the manufacture of hot sauce.

Visit your local ethnic grocery - Thai, Indian, Arabic, etc.
Likely to have non-Chinese product. And, you’ll learn how greatly overpriced spices are in American groceries.

I say this respectfully and with understanding that different people are in different situations, but it is somewhat disturbing to me that people patronize Amazon, or need to.
