At 5 points with a margin of error in the results it might not be insurmountable. Collins has seniority in the senate and any new senator starts at the bottom of the pack in either party. Maine should be reminded of that before throwing Collins over so quickly. It’s why San Fran doesn’t throw Pelosi under the bus....they get the benefits of her senior position in congress.
Collins needs Trump’s endorsement and should be begging him for a rally in Maine.

About having the vote for SCOTUS before election; it would probably help Collins to get on record as a no vote. And, it might help further energize the GOP electorate and undecideds. But, from a practical matter it doesn’t matter whether the SCOTUS seat is filled before January it not. If the current GOP majority shoul be successful in filling the seat but should loose the senate the Schumer is already on record that he will pack the court to a number that gives the Dems a majority. If the GOP the retains senate majority and trump wins then the GOP can take care of unfinished business after the election. So, it’s imperative that the GOP wins POTUS and retains the senate. Then, all is good.
As with any house divided against itself, this situation will change in terms of one side winning and the other losing. Granted I am a partisan in the conflict that is happening within the party but that does not change the nature of the problem nor the potential solutions.
In order for Glenn to build up the party, he has to decide which direction the party is going to move and then he takes the party in that direction. Until he does that the battles will continue to be waged until the party chooses its direction forward.

Bottom line all three of these states have one thing in common:they need to pay much closer attention to getting strong conservative leaders in the primaries.No matter how far left a state drifts when voters are given a choice of strong conservative leadership they usually make the correct choice.WIthout it we see the result.
Right now we have a Senate vote coming up on what will likely be a conservative woman for scotus to take the place of RBG which is long overdue.
We will need every single Republican vote just to get to a tie that Pence will override.We should nevee have to be that close to losing a chance for a 5/4 victory in scotus.Our head of scotus John Roberts is obviously compromised and we desperately need the fifth vote.The rats know it and we know it so lets stop forgetting the primaries and just how important they are.

Trump wants a win in Maine and I'd expect him to campaign there. Collins can ride his coat tails, no matter how she votes.
With Ginsberg's death, the libs on the court are now down 1 vote. Any election decision that would result in a tie would have been a loss. And if Trump gets his nominee confirmed, it's a win. And if not, and if, as expected, the Democrats pull out all the stops against a White woman, I don't see how this helps them with White women.
She can kiss her re-election bye bye if she refuses to vote for Trump’s SCOTUS nominee.
