Given the proximity of the Presidential election, however, I dont believe the senate should vote on the nominee priority the election in fairness to the American people

“I heard a FOX poll which claimed she was trailing in her campaign by 9%.”
After her statement any republican that would vote for her is a moron. Now she should be trailing by 20 points.
Who thought she would? She knows she’s already toast in Maine, why not stab us in the back on the way out?
And with a single statement, she eliminates the last flimsy reason to vote for a RINO - judges.
Get ready, Mike.
She said Yes to Garland in 2016
Notice she said prior to the election. That doesnt mean she wont vote in the lame duck session.
Good point. China Mitch is an expert at maneuvering around POTUS. A lame duck vote protects blue state GOP Senators from voting on the record while denying POTUS a victory before the election. If you’re a Never Trump GOP Senator there is no better outcome.
Your headline jumps to a conclusion.
She could abstain, based on her tweet, which would be much better.
They don’t need her vote or Murkowski or Willard.
That’s “dog bits man”...totally expected, not newsworthy.
Now if she’d have indicated support for DJT’s nominee...
If the 53-47 GOP Senate fails to fill RBG's vacancy, the party is finished. The base will be demoralized and stay home, costing both President Trump and Mitch McConnell their jobs. President Biden will replace RBG and President Harris will replace Thomas and Alito. The Democrat majority congress will lurch so far to the left, so fast, our heads will spin.
And that's it. It'll be as if the last four years never happened (and liberals will put legislation in place to ensure it never happens again).
This will be Mitch McConnell's finest hour and political suicide to any Republican senator who stands in his way (including Collins).
She'll come around. She's basks in the attention of being a maverick, only to step in line when it counts.
She can choose to vote yea, nay, or refuse to vote.
Either way, her vote will be recorded.
She could well be gone in November, but is the obvious one to be excused by Mitch on this insofar as it might help her chances of hanging on.
A simple political reality.
What I think is funny is she assumes that if there is cheating it will only be against Trump she could be taken out with it as well and I think she might be. So the Court is important to all the people on the ballot just not Trump.
Since the Court may have to adjudicate on the removal of Pelosi from office, those who support Pelosi may have to recuse themselves from voting on the nominee.
How could the country possibly have survived without the 17th Amendment? /sarc
welllll,thatsssss whatttt weeee allll expectedddd
So the President stops being the president during election season? Where is that in the Constitution, Susan Collins??? He has a job to do. Thats why we elected him to serve FOUR years. Not a day more or a day less.
She must not care about getting re-elected, because the people who were going to vote against her are going to do it anyway, regardless of what she does.
But if she had come out as a “yes”, then I think that would have fired up the Republicans to get out and vote for her.
I am 100% sure that opposition has nothing to do with “fairness” and everything to do with “Roe V Wade”.
Glad she waited until she saw who Trump picked.
