Just watched THE SOCIAL DILEMMA and now realize why many of the good people that I know have such diametrically opposing perspectives and such anger disrespect and hate for other opinions. The SOCIAL DILEMMA manipulations occur in social media platforms but also are present on every other large scale website like CBSNBCCNNPBSFOXABC NETFLIX AMAZON. Our opinions are being manipulated and massaged into hate and intolerance of each other. For what end? What is to be gained for the elite by formenting this level of hatred and rage except to devestate the country and gain unprecedented power and control? The only solution is to disbelieve all "news and information " and talk to ones neighbors and friends with open minds. Remember they do not have any sort of ready access to your information and you are kept away from theirs. And both of you are fed highly manipulated information to elicit charged emotional responses. Citizen driven websites and news gathering is a way around the monolith. Remember nothing is real here on the web. What is real are your neighbors friends and communities. Please share.
I have been advocating such for many years.
We do not live in a symmetrical system of bias. The Left has far more control over the media than Conservatives do.
Another part is realizing most media is partisan. When you know the media is partisan, you can take that into account.
Evil despises morality and freedom. Why did Romans kill Christians? Democrats are no different.
Without having watched the movie, I suppose a corollary is if one lives in a Dem controlled state, and city where most people are Dems and one wants to be social and have friends, then there is little option but to take up their point of view.
let’s spread it.
Btw Clemmons is a favorite author. Great grands lived across the street from him years ago
one would want open and free discussion without the manipulations of the blob.
Here is a cut & paste of an excellent review
“Only two organization call their customers “ users” illegal drugs & software “.
This statement is quite a relative explanation about this brilliant perfect eye opener documentary , undoubtedly it’s oscar deserving stuff . Every person living in present world is aware about how he or she is addicted to drug called social media in other words we are being used as lab rats not to discover something new but selling to customers , here advertisers are customers we are just products .
Entire digital giant industry is poised to earn money not caring about the very humanity , so the biggest question is who is accountable to let this menace happened to us , when did we gave authority to social media to govern us are you willing to be controlled by digital giant industry ?
Outstanding work done by director & creator along with netflix they actually exposed the unseen truth of people who are programming our thoughts our entire thinking and personality to become what they want us to be more like a addictive drug of social media fed into our system unknowingly . Hats off to creators of this documentary for selecting such a relevant issue where humanity itself trying to survive in chaos created by social media, social sites are blamed from rigging elections to spreading rumours which land into serious consequences because present geopolitical chaos happening in many countries is quite a picture to elaborate what is drug called social media is doing .
So your personal life is no more personal as every like , share , tag or comment ypu posted is being watched by these digital giants or one can say they know more about us than we knows .It’s strong attempt to aware people how their lives are highly intruded by technology .
One normally assumes that sole purpose of these social sites is to connect you to your friends relative peolle you know colleagues etc but hidden truth is dark, scary . I would like to recommend this great piece of art to everyone as first time such brave effort has been done with dedicated will for sake of humanity . This captivating , engaging , hard hitting , impactful ducumentary is must watch as it’s your decision to whom you want to hand over control of your life to social media or yourself ?
Think think again.”
I highly recommend watching this documentary. I was skeptical that Netflix could present any useful unbiased information on this topic and was pleasantly surprised.
The concept of how algorithms control social media feeds to manipulate users is shown through clever dramatizations along with interviews with the guys who created these algorithms. This situation is much worse and more malevolent than I could have imagined.
There is some liberal bias evident, particularly one scene where some pompous a-hole goes on about how the Russians used Facebook to steal the 2016 election, but it’s clear that the filmmakers put a lot of effort into not making this a liberal trope.

wants usually aren’t practical
I still go to other sites like the WSJ, Financial Times. But I rarely, if ever, watch the news on TV unless it's a breaking story, and when I do I find myself verbally correcting the errors of the talking head.
The First Amendment is to be cherished, but the First Amendment is silent on accuracy of speech. Indeed, the pamphlets published at the founding were vicious. In some ways, things haven't change in hundreds of years. What HAS changed, is this belief that reporting is objective. It isn't, it never was, but today's citizenry thinks we are supposed to get "objective reporting." I KNOW that's a fantasy, but I also know "our side" isn't pure either (American Thinker is often awful, and GP, while better, still gets it wrong too often).
Which, again, is why FR is such a great place. In 10 mins I can get a dozen opinions, reports, and feedback (which are often hysterically funny) covering life, politics, finance, art, anthropology, pandemics, and Møøse. That enables me to form a based opinion, e.g. Mynd you, møøse bites Kan be pretti nasti...
watched the trailer...and it included the phrase “more election hacking”...clearly referring to Russia/2016.
not interested in seeing the whole thing. there are plenty of social media exposes online, without a Netflix version.
Watching how Facebook manipulates users’ news feeds to maximize advertising revenue did bring to mind how much I appreciate Free Republic. You are never fed material here, it’s a rich buffet of all sorts of news sources and a wide variety of opinions about them.
I have to admit that getting positive responses to one’s comments here probably does engage some of the same dopamine receptors that Facebook’s “Like” button does. I might have on rare occasions spent more time on FR than I intended to...
You just described FR.
Now Im going to prove your point and also give an example. You also described the notables on 8kun where Q posts. These are lists of references to key articles and information citizens post on from the 751-item threads. The lists may or may not reference actual Q posts.
As soon as I mentioned Q, a programmed All Q things bad reaction rose up in some readers (maybe you) the same way orange Man bad raises up in programmed leftists.
Now, I am not defending Q or saying Im aligned there. I am pointing out that this aspect of an alternative information source to corporate controlled programming is NEVER mentioned in articles about Q, which instead emphasizes the emotionally contrived word conspiracy.
(Just noticed that Corporate Controlled Programming has the initials as CCP. Certainly a lot of similarities.)
These same algorithms control all of the major sites. That is unspoken. Watch the news sites. Same pinging and selective presentations
excellent. I am sending this thread to all my friends it is a good discussion. And that is what we need.
Is it hatred and intolerance to not want to convert to evil Islam? Or give in to Rat demands?
"Don't be hateful and intolerant by nominating a replacement for RBG on SCOTUS."

The purpose of mass media is to brainwash people.
Those who ignore it are no longer brainwashed.
Life is simple when you know the rules.
