From Az and southern CA always called everything Coke.
Husband is from Central PA. He says it was always called ‘soda’ - but you specified exactly which type of ‘soda’ that you wanted.
We do that in the south.
When I drove the semi, got in the habit of asking for ‘the dark carbonated beverage’ when ordering in restaurants.
Same in TX....we say, What kind of a Coke would you like? LOL.
