Republicans control the US Senate and the White House and could nominate and confirm a justice by election day on November 3rd.
Already tonight Minority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer announced that the vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.
And already Senator Lisa Murkowski announced she would not vote for a SCOTUS nominee until after Election Day.

This might save Linda from getting beat. Might help Collins too. If we wait, we may only lose Arizona. Could pick up Michigan with Alabama. Could turn out perfect for us.
I wish President Trump would hold a rally in Alaska. And show Missy Murkowski just WHERE her loyalties need to lay. MS. Murkowski could always hold a rally of her own, in case she thinks she’s all that. Lol
DiFi called her and told her to say this or else she’d uh... tell.
You know. Tell.
Hence Roberts still being in the Swinger’s Seat.
Well, they will get their chance to kill off the GOP...forever.
A vote will proceed regardless.
And already Senator Lisa Murkowski announced she would not vote for a SCOTUS nominee until after Election Day."
How could the country possibly have survived without the 17th Amendment? /sarc
Someone's got to be able to get to this Feinstein bootlicker.
Amy Coney Barrett.
Let them try to do to her what they did to Kavanaugh.
Judge Amy Coney Barrett would be the obvious choice.
But Senate Dems will torture her like a roomful of Gestapo goons. It will be far worse than Kavanaugh.
She’s probably getting death threats already.
That assumes two things in particular:
1. There is no massive vote fraud.
2. Assuming #1 can be minimized somehow the (R)'s still must maintain control of the Senate.
With "universal", unsolicited, ballot harvesting coupled with a legion of leftist lawyers/lawsuits and liberal Roberts on the bench, #1 is going to be a electoral challenge our country hasn't seen yet.
And with a number of (R) Senator's in tight races, keeping the Senate is no slam dunk either.
we need to get Joe to tell us who he would pick for the seat so we can evaluate that person before the election.
A bunch of Senate seats could become a referendum on the two picks.
Murkowski said she wouldnt vote until inauguration day - January 20.
We both forgot the ‘/s’
Voting after the election at least sounds more rational than waiting until after the inauguration.
Consider the timeline for confirmation. It is late September now.
There will be an understandably short period of official mourning while officialdom sends RGB off.
Say PDJT sends his selection off to the Senate on 1 Oct 2020.
The Senate does have to vette (sp) the nominee (while also trying to campaign), set the schedule for and actually hold the hearings (perhaps multiple rounds). Even expedited, what 3 weeks? Then the confirmation vote. Last week of October? Seriously? Immediately after the election? A week or two after more likely.
That is probably the earliest using a somewhat reasonable timeline.
So Murkowsky saying not voting until after the election isn’t too far away from reality.
You are right, but wont this motivate undecided trump voters to vote for him and keep the senate. Im curious about the Lincoln group now.
So, Chuckie, 4-4 for 4 more years.
“If we wait, we may only lose Arizona.”
If we lose Arizona, the Dem could be sworn in immediately, because McSally was appointed to hold the seat, just until the election.
Are there enough Senate Republicans, excluding the RINOs, to confirm?
Lindsey is up for reelection. He’ll lead the charge for this one.
