PRINCETON’S “SYSTEMIC RACISM” CAPTURES THE GOVERNMENT’S ATTENTION.
Powerline ^ | September | BY PAUL MIRENGOFF

Two weeks ago, Princeton University’s president, Christopher Eisgruber, issued a letter to the Princeton community in which he admitted that the institution he has run for seven years is plagued by “systemic racism.” This is quite an admission for a number of reasons.

Yesterday, the Department sent its own letter to Eisgruber. The letter informs him that the Department is opening an investigation into racism at Princeton — an investigation that could have important adverse financial consequences for the University.

The letter includes probing requests for information. And it informs Eisgruber that he will be called on to answer questions, under oath, about Princeton’s racism.

It also warns that Princeton’s response to the Department’s information requests falls under 18 U.S.C. Section 1001. This means that knowingly and willfully providing false information carries a fine and a prison sentence of not more than 5 years.

Eisgruber has put Princeton in a box. It either must formally admit to engaging in unlawful discrimination, which might well result in serious financial penalties, or it must admit, in effect, that Eisgruber was blowing smoke when he copped to systemic racism at Princeton — an admission that surely would enrage the militant students and alumni Eisgruber has been working so hard to appease.

Presumably, Princeton will first try to run out the clock, hoping for a new administration in Washington, D.C.

If that doesn’t work, Princeton will try to talk its way out of the dilemma. However, I question whether that needle can be threaded.

Systemic and damaging racism at Princeton without any anyone actually having been discriminated against? Good luck claiming that.

It certainly does have systemic racism... systemic anti-white racism.

"It was an innocent little joke! Don't you guys have a sense of humor?"

"Are you saying that accusations of racism should not be taken seriously? Or just that you should not be taken seriously?"

In 2017-18, Princeton president Christoper Eisgruber, then in his fifth year in office, made $970,900.

Dear Adelphi Community,

“We are still reckoning with the impact of a global pandemic, one that has demonstrated the way we come together as a university community. And it is time, again, for us to rally together.Since June, we have had many conversations, open and individual, to hear the concerns and pain of our community members. In listening to you, it is clear that our University is not where it should be when it comes to eliminating racism. Over the summer months, you bravely shared your experiences of discrimination, racism, intolerance, bigotry and discomfort at Adelphi. I attended every forum and am grateful you shared your stories and your concrete suggestions for improvement. Christine Riordan, President Adelphi University.”
I periodically receive email from the University where I graduated. The other day, I received an email from the President of the University issuing a statement about the systemic racism in this college. I posted a portion of it above. It is a disingenuous stance meant to placate a large portion of the student body mostly of whom ironically are Black. My son graduated here just 3 years ago, and I attended the graduation. Unlike in my halcyon days, the graduates were overwhelmingly Black so it made me think who exactly is discriminating against these students? Adelphi would do well to read the proceedings of Princeton’s foolishness. This simpatico act with the Black experience simply looks stupid on White bureaucrats lusting after the Federal dime.

Princeton pays a million dollars per year to this virtue-signaling idiot.

How embarrassing.

Is this the biggest example of self-pwnage of the year? The worst own goal?

I can’t think of one better.

These morons have virtue-signaled themselves into a Federal investigation, which hopefully will lead to some serious defunding.

The question is, how many other universities and entities receiving Federal funding are there? I’m thinking there are hundreds, maybe thousands.

How can this be leveraged?

The Department’s letter begins by reminding Eisgruber that Princeton has received more than $75 million in federal aid during his tenure as president, and that as a condition of receiving this aid, the University has repeatedly certified that it complies with Title VI’s non-discrimination requirement.
...
The letter then notes the contradiction between Princeton’s representations that it doesn’t discriminate and Eisgruber’s confession that the institution is systemically racist.
...
Among other things, Princeton is asked to produce all records relating to “Princeton’s ‘systemic’ and/or ’embedded’ racism, as those terms are used in the President’s Letter” — the one that confessed to “systemic” and/or “embedded” racism. The time frame of the request is 2013 to the present — Eisgruber’s time as Princeton’s president.

Sounds like this dude is gonna get fired quick, and Princeton is gonna get hit hard by all their snowflakes. Or, less likely, they'll support the letter, and the US taxpayer might just get $75MM back, plus fines. But, if it truly is "systemic", that would mean it's been going on a lot longer than just one dude's time as President. So in that case DoE can go after probably every dollar they've ever granted Princeton, plus interest, plus fines. Then move on to the next federally funded school!

Almost all of them. If you include student loans as federal funds for the school (which is an easy argument, since the $$ go to the school, and the programs are administrated using school employees), then there are only 17 colleges that do not accept any taxpayer $$$, and many of them also eschew State/local assistance as well. .

How many individuals were, on the ground of race, color, or national origin, excluded from participation in, denied benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance by Princeton January 1, 2015 and the present?

No race or color is specified. Princeton will probably ignore that fact. If it does, the DOJ should make it pay a price.
