A Massachusetts man says he built an electric fence around his Trump lawn sign to stop people from removing it after repeated thefts.
John Oliveira, a 54-year-old disabled veteran and local school committee member, told The Standard-Times this month that the move was intended to protect his First Amendment rights.
Im defending my property and my right to free speech, he said. This is about my right to free speech, period.
Oliveira said his neighbors may complain about the electric fence but he defended the decision, saying the sign outside his home in New Bedford hasnt been touched in two weeks since the electric fence went up.
He told local media that the fence is about 3 1/2-feet high and has safety wire with three small signs that say Caution Electric Fence in English, Spanish and French. The fence is solar powered and has an active current.

I'm surprised this homeowner hasn't been told to take the fence down.
And if some BLM/Antifa idiot gets hurt trying to destroy the sign, guess who’s charged?
Both? ...but in different ways :)
One suggestion: since it seems that a home owner will likely face arrest for any act of self defense on his property vs a communist mob, even when faced with the threat of arson or worse, it should be up to neighbors to defend the family, home or business under attack.
A load of turkey shot skip-fired off the pavement from behind the hedges about 100 yards away at the first sign of anything being lit on fire, even a fuse, should take a lot of the fun out of being a commie night terrorist.
Don’t wait for the mob to come to YOUR house: deal with them when they are down the street terrorizing a neighbor.
Four years ago a friend had the same problem here in Illinois.
He is surrounded by public school teachers.
For a couple of hours each night, he sat with a mega bright flashlight and would turn it on any pedestrians crossing hie front yard.
When he tired of the flashlight, he he took cheap bright colored extension cords looped around the signs stuck the end inside the signs, the other end tied to a tree and under the garage door.
When the dogs barked, on with the flashlight.
The dogs stopped barking and the signs remained in place.
Obviously...but my question would be...will such miscreants be charged with trespassing and destruction of private property?
I live in Massachusetts. There are Trump signs all over the place in my South Shore town. Havent heard of people getting their signs stolen or vandalized. Not saying it doesnt happen, just not in my town yet. A few weeks ago to Trump boat rally was huge. Massachusetts sucks politically in general, but many Trump fans are here nonetheless
I dont wish too many people Ill. Healy is on that very short list.
I live in Western Ma. There is one home with about 20 Trump signs on the front lawn. In front of all of them is a sign indicating that they are all under video surveillance.
