A Southwest Pennsylvania sheriff has defected to the Republican Party from the Democrats, saying he feels out of place in his former party.
It was a really difficult decision and Ive thought long and hard about it, but I feel I stand for the ideals of the Republican Party platform more than the Democrats today, Westmoreland County Sheriff James Albert stated, according to The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Ive been a lifelong Democrat, but a conservative Democrat at that, he added. Im pro-life, a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, a lifetime member of the NRA (National Rifle Association) and, today, I feel my ideals are closer to the Republican Party than Democrats.

Ronald Reagan made that same decision a long time ago.

How was he ever a Democrat? He would need to go back at least 50 years to find anything like a Democrat Party that wasn’t this collection of communists and weirdos. Oh well, welcome to the dark side, sheriff.
Help keep PA red!
>> How was he ever a Democrat?
Prolly half of registered Dems are stuck on stupid
Screw these stinking leftists who want a place at the table. If they have a guilty conscience then vote Trump and shut up.
When you look around and everybody else in the room is a Communist it’s time to leave. It helps that Trump isn’t anything like a traditional Republican and has by force of will been reforming the GOP into something new. His policies are 100% oriented toward supporting American workers. And that, my friends, has been considered Democrat home field for a century. It’s also why the “Never Trumpers” are in such a state. Their gravy train has been hijacked.
This guy was ALWAYS a Conservative, he just didn’t know it.

Democrat have been against all that forever. What’s taken him so long?
yes. millions of lifelong Democrats need to get this message, that today’s DNC has left the party for Communist/Nazi extreme leftist doctrinaire bullkrap - complete with full dictatorship plans, instead.
many of these D voters are moderates on fiscal policy and conservatives or moderates on social policies
they do NOT genuinely support or even want communism, atheism, Nazi style brownshirts rioting in our streets
what I wish to see are dozens of good R speakers going out on the campaign trails... backing up, extending, helping PDJT’s fine efforts (especially since he does have a country to run at the same time). Where are the genuine (not the old GOP-e basturds) Republicans and “conservatives” that would be shut down permanently if the DemoNaziCommie machine managed to seize power?
His Dad was a Democrat, and his Dad was a Democrat, and...
Albert is a good guy. I signed his petition for him to run last time. He comes from a small rural town on the northeast edge of our county.
Ronald Reagan made that same decision a long time ago.
Even Trump himself was once a Democrat.
Welcome to the Party!
My grandfather, a lifelong and pretty influential local Democrat, made the same decision back in 1980.
Nary a Democrat left on our family tree today.
How could any law enforcement personnel support a Harris Administration and remain a Democrat in this climate? The Democrats are lurching so far left they are abandoning so many God Fearing, America loving people.
I’m willing to bet he’s been voting Repub for some time. Maybe he finally realized the time is now to be public about it.
West Virginia finally flipped not too long ago, and he isn’t far from there.
The Illinois pubs have stunk forever, and they have had some dems that are better than the pubs, which isn’t hard.
Their primary constituency is now mostly millennials, Blacks who do not want to break free of Big government handouts, people who don't wan to work or achieve economic gain, members of the media and academia and educational unions.
Okay, this guy isn’t too bright or fast. It has taken him this long to realize his principles do not align with the Democratic Party? Me thinks he fears no reelection in the future.
