Scientific American Endorses Joe Biden
Scientific American ^ | October 2020 Issue | THE EDITORS

Posted on 09/16/2020 6:22:58 AM PDT by artichokegrower

Scientific American has never endorsed a presidential candidate in its 175-year history. This year we are compelled to do so. We do not do this lightly.

The evidence and the science show that Donald Trump has badly damaged the U.S. and its people—because he rejects evidence and science. The most devastating example is his dishonest and inept response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which cost more than 190,000 Americans their lives by the middle of September.

Wonder if these egg head scientists would be so supportive of a total shut down if their taxpayer funded university salaries and benefits were eliminated? Easy to criticize from your insulated from reality ivory tower.

I see LOTS Of subscription cancellations in their near future.

Leftists who run companies, magazines, etc. cannot help themselves when it comes to this kind of thing - even if it hurts them and others who depend on them for their livelihood.

“The most devastating example is his dishonest and inept response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which cost more than 190,000 Americans their lives by the middle of September.”

The implication of the text is that 190,000 fewer, i.e. zero, would have died, except for his “inept response”. But, this is obviously a lie, as no response would have attained zero deaths.

Kamala, they’ve been political for a long time.

Used to pick up Sci Am at the airport for infrequent flights until the 1990’s, when all they seemed to care about was whatever BJ Clinton alleged to care about.

To be fair, Scientific American hadn’t much credibility left. Seems they just jettisoned even that.

Could they get any further along the woke spectrum? Maybe they should add a trans porn section.

SA was once a great scientific magazine. No more. PC has taken over. It went political during the previous election because it thought that Trump was anti-science and was going to cut funding.

It is no longer a serious scientific magazine. Every article has a PC slant. A waste of paper.

Here’s the CEO of the company that owns SA

He knows all the right woke jargon, that’s for certain.

Such a travesty what Leftists have done to science. We may never get it back in our lifetime.

Well,in their defense they *did* run an article recently explaining how flying coach on a commercial airliner damages the environment while flying in a LearJet doesn't.

While in college I often thought the phrase "political science" was an oxymoron.

Biden was making ad hominem attacks against Donald Trump on the day that he instituted travel restrictions. The “fact checking” has labeled Trump’s tweets that Biden called him Xenophobic for the teavel restrictions as mostly false because it was an ad hominem attack against Trump that did not mention Trump’s policy.

Ad hominem attacks are an illegitimate form of argumentation because they are without substance and they fail to address issues.
